    THR Tracy Recovery

Well, I’m home—thank God. Hip numéro deux was a little more painful post op, but the noise in the hospital was what drove me bonkers. Once I was happily in my own bed, with my two cat nurses, I perked up. All seems to be going well. Minimal pain and quite a bit of mobility with forearm...

    THR Am I bad enough?

Thanks, Layla. I had my surgery on October 14 and it was remarkably smooth sailing--except for my obnoxious hospital roommate. Progress since then has been slow but steady, with odd twinges here and there that I just put off to part of the process. I've been fortunate to have very good PT so...

    THR Am I bad enough?

Thank you. I did go ahead with the replacement (October 14, 2020) and it went so well that I am already lobbying to get the second one done so it doesn't impede my progress.

THR Getting Ready & Too Many Conflicts

Hi All, I am scheduled for hip replacement on Oct 14--and possibly a bit sooner if they can squeeze me in. I am racing to prepare everything, and was wondering about other surgeries: I may need to have a Moh's surgery on my nose--pretty!--but I worry that so much trauma would not be good. I also...

THR EditorER - When to have surgery?

@EditorER From what I've read, lumbar spine degeneration can cause all sorts of problems with hip replacements. I consulted with a spine surgeon as well to make sure it wouldn't mess everything up. But who knows? I wish I had something more useful to say besides wishing you the best of luck...

    THR Am I bad enough?

@SwimHip True dat. I wish I could swim, but our Y has been closed since March...and I am NOT swimming in the Hudson River!

    THR Am I bad enough?

@SwimHip I did have X-Rays, and a number of docs, including a surgeon, said, You have arthritis but just keep moving. I was very active, especially cycling (which I can still do), so it really wasn't until this COVID lockdown, and enforced inactivity, that things got bad. Anyway, I am...
