Not at HSS but another doc. He said if it were him, he would focus on rebuilding my muscle, but it literally feels like I have something in my knee that prevents my leg from being straight which the repair did not fix. Yes, both sides have muscle wasting, but I'm able to stand fine on my good...
Update: the second surgeon said everything looks fine in old mri/meniscus healed/repaired and that I just need to condition my knees/leg strength, and that a TKR would not benefit me. Yet, I can't keep my leg straight at all.
Thank you. One surgeon down/two more to go. He listened to my unique case/complex. He will do another MRI to see how it looks compared to last time and proceed from there. (At least he listened to me and didn't dismiss me)
Need to vent....
It’s so frustrating trying to find a surgeon for a knee replacement. There seem to be so many requirements, and if you don’t fit the typical picture of severe arthritis on an X-ray or MRI, it feels like no one wants to even evaluate you.
Why can’t symptoms and function be...
@Jamie Thank you. My appointments are in two weeks with two different doctors. One in HSS Dr. Mayman and HUMC Dr. Klein. Crossing fingers I can get a TKR. My xray and mri don't show anything besides bone edema, but after my meniscus injury a year ago and a repair in January, I still cannot...
What are is the difference between hinge and non hinge TKR? Who decides or how does the surgeon decide? I have so much instability in my knee. I just don't want to in for one thing and then I still have instability.
What questions should I ask my surgeon?
Thanks!
@JusticeRider thank you, these are great. my leg knee just doesn't have any stability it's as if am trying to stand on a empty knee, it's so frustrating and hard to describe. everything i use to do, i can no longer do! I will keep on looking. Hope you are doing well!
@Legseleven thank you, appreciate it. I feel like noone is listening and its affecting me tremendously. I don't even think a trim would help at this point. Even for the first surgeon to do a repair noone would go in there because they said it was a small tear but I couldn't even walk on my knee.
Thank you, yes, I didn't even go back to the original surgeon bc he only repairs and I do not even want to go back to him after this.
NYU surgeon just told me stop walking for 6 weeks for the bone edema, but I still can't walk.
I have a surgeon in HSS and another in Hackensack, hoping for...
Hello, has anyone been through something similar?
I injured my right knee in June 2025 and spent months being told to keep doing PT even though I could barely trust the leg. In January 2026, a surgeon finally went in and found a medial meniscus/meniscocapsular tear and repaired it. He also...
