    THR Incision scar tissue

I didn't get to the spinal fusion state. Just injections so I can't comment on it. My pain went away in January and now it is August BTW. Hope it continues!

Well no more hips left to operate on but maybe I’ll be back someday with a knee! Thanks for helping me thru both hips and remember, you don’t need PT!

Thought i would return to finish the story on my sciatica pain. It ended well! We to spine and pain specialist, got diagnosed with spinal stenosis l4,l5 and took two rounds of steroid injections. Didn't help but a month later, i switched to ibuprofen and within 2 days, the pain began to...

    THR Incision scar tissue

updating you all after several months, I've been in constant sciatica pain since May. I did stop the Pelaton immediately but the pain progressed and I got an MRI. it showed a synovial cyst on my spine at L4/L5 which I had drained. Two doctors have said it was not brought on by Pelaton. I think...

    THR Incision scar tissue

4.5 months out and I am in pain the last 3 weeks after starting on my new peloton machine! It's quite a 30min workout and I am really stiff the next day. Doing it 3 times a week. Passed beginner level. Stretching but not helping much. Limping and hard to stand on one leg. Before this i as strong...

    THR Incision scar tissue

Elf1 That's really good for people to know. I bet most people think just the opposite like me. I work in an office and I thought that was the best possible work scenario. I do have my fitbit set to prompt me to walk a certain number of steps each hour and that is working very well. Otherwise...

I think the activity progression chart could be more stratified either by age or by level of health. Ever receive that feedback before? Lord knows, this forum is a lifesaver and the activity progression is a nice set of milestones but it seems skewed towards older ages, mentions activities I...

Meds- I finished my eliquis. Though I'd prefer to just use tylenol, I've been experimenting and the celebrex works the best. It drives the discomfort to zero and helps me with my gait. However, it works so well, it doesn't give me the feedback of whether I am overdoing or not. Any opinion...

    THR Incision scar tissue

one month has gone by quickly. Not sure where I should be at one month but I am back to leading a normal life in all respects. Using Tylenol for the t winges i get when walking sometimes. Have to remind myself to walk correctly or sometimes I favor it. Had a couple of 6k steps days this week...

THR When will I be able to walk unaided?

Everyone is different. Today I went for my 2 week checkup and the waiting room was full of people who were also operated on 2 weeks ago. One had a walker, one was using a cane, and I was walking unaided though I get a twinge when I put full weight on. So, outcomes will be different and people...

    THR Still not functioning

I agree with TrudiJane. Even for months afterwards, some weird new pain would come up and I would get all upset that the thr was failing etc. Went to the Dr. and they took xrays each time and the implants were perfect. Once you rule out an issue with the implant loosening or something, it comes...

    THR Incision scar tissue

Had 2 week checkup with Dr. today. All is well. Interestingly, when I had my 1st hip done 5 years ago he prescribed 4 weeks of PT. This time he says experience and studies have shown that it is not necessary and just walk and try to increase flexibility. So Kudos to bonesmart for being ahead...

    THR Incision scar tissue

On my first hip, I was having some pain and then my PT did massage on my scar area. She explained that the scar tissue has to be broken up or it can be painful. Sure enough, by the end of that session, my pain improved dramatically. There was some crackling and then immediate relief from the...

All things being equal, I'd like to wean off of the opiods as I am having less pain. Is there a preferred approach and what is a good over the counter med to take its place?

    THR Incision scar tissue

I know icing is good but my doc didn't make a big deal about it or elevation. Do it yes, but cant recall the instructions and they're not in my patient booklet. Can i get some advice now on where and how long i should ice? on my incision area, on my thigh or butt? How many days should i ice for?
