THR One down, one to go

Hi @Mojo333 and @Layla, I’m reflecting on your wise and kind counsel about activity level. You’re probably right. I’m prone to being very goal focused and I hate feeling like I’m failing; I did feel like I was failing last time. There’s also other stuff going on in my life which isn’t great...

THR One down, one to go

I thought I’d like to share this. Apologies in advance for a long post! Since I decided to embark on this journey, I started keeping a “hip diary”. Sort of a blog, but without anyone seeing it! I’m obviously now at the point of being able to compare having the first post surgery experience...

THR One down, one to go

Hi @Layla , I’m definitely guilty of being a prime referral for the ODIC! I set myself goals and am my own harshest taskmaster if I slack off. Did my walking and exercises again today (two walks, one of 1.5 miles, one 0.8 miles. Same as yesterday) with a view to wanting to do more next...

THR One down, one to go

Thank you @Layla , it’s lovely to be back actually. I don't have arthritis in my hips. That’s surreal to write. I’m in lots of pain and on lots of painkillers. The sleeping pill last was, I think, effective but I was pretty disoriented when I woke in the night to use the bathroom and in...

THR One down, one to go

Hi @CricketHip and @Elf1 pleased you like the shirt! :) It went down very well at the hospital! I didn’t have it custom made, but did spend a while searching on line for something appropriate and which made me, and hopefully others, smile!

@Mojo333, it was indeed wrecked! We had gone for the right one first because we thought that was marginally worse. However, after the operation, the Consultant wasn’t so sure! The loose bone chunks weren’t visible on the X-ray but, fortunately, were clear on the CT scan, so he expected them...

Also... I can’t tell you how amazing and lovely it was to log back into here and find so many supportive messages waiting for me. Made me very emotional. Thank you. I’m now a double hippie. Even bought myself a t-shirt, declaring the fact, to wear when up and about in hospital.

THR One down, one to go

Hi everyone, Sorry I have not been around; I have been intending to update though! The last couple of months have been pretty tough, some has been about some ongoing difficult challenges in my life, some has been exhaustion and low level depression, dealing with the left hip. Had reached...

THR One down, one to go

Now 7 weeks post surgery and 5 weeks pre! CT scan tomorrow. Mood keeps swinging depending on whether my focus gets stuck on where I am now and the hill to climb or whether I can shift it to thinking about a view from the top! I never envisaged myself needing to deal with two major surgeries...

THR One down, one to go

Hi @Layla , Thanks for your thoughts and the phased return information. I admit, it was very much on my mind yesterday. I know when I took time off for the first one, my boss was okay (if a bit panicked about the work that needed doing), but did go very pale when I pointed out the actual...

THR One down, one to go

Thanks @CricketHip Nervousness took a little jump up today. CT scan booked in for next Monday. Which will then mark five weeks to the operation. Plus meeting with my boss today to plan various things and the two weeks I will be out of action again. (Phased back in week three this time round...

THR One down, one to go

Happy Sunday @Layla! Thank you so much for your lovely encouraging words. The red dress photo was from my 50th birthday! I was already struggling hugely with my arthritis, but was determined to not let it beat me. So I gifted myself my first ever photo session. I’ve always had body image...
