    THR On the Other Side

Just over 4 weeks post-op. Went for a bicycle ride over the weekend. Muscles are sore, but in a good way now. Hope to incorporate some water therapy and swimming into my rehab soon, as well as walking and cycling. Still getting better every day. After several years of struggling with this stuff...

    THR On the Other Side

Just a little over two weeks post-op on my last total hip replacement… Getting better every day now. Walking without crutches, but not very far. Hoping to start some serious walking outdoors within the next couple weeks, and cycling soon after… Need to build back stamina, strength, muscle, and...

subie21 Okay, maybe I will just ice it and rest it and not try to stretch it for awhile. I don’t wanna make the muscle “angrier” by being impatient… Klassy, What do you mean by “log leg”…??? If you mean basically “dead” and cannot lift it up onto the couch or bed under it’s own power and has to...

I feel like I have a tight groin muscle on this latest surgery that I do not remember dealing with on the last one…I am trying to stretch it out, but it continues to be a source of pain and frustration… I really hope this is a temporary condition…

Thanks Layla, Doing well I think. I’m a little over one week post-op with the right one now, but still working on finding the muscle strength to lift my leg…Can’t remember having this much trouble with the left one…

I can’t figure out how to edit my signature…Maybe it has to be done by an administrator??? I had LTK (Left Total Knee) done 10/13/20 So if you can add that for me please do so…

Funny you would say this…This hip surgery has been a little bit harder on me than the first one, so I was wondering about that myself and I’m glad you said that…

    THR On the Other Side

Hello All…,Everything went well with my second hip surgery. I’m sore and a bit bruised as expected, but doing very good. I now have 2 artificial knees and 2 artificial hips, and I feel so relieved and happy to have it all behind me now that I’m releasing massive amounts of stress in the form of...

    THR On the Other Side

Update: Almost 10 weeks post-op on total posterior left hip replacement. Doing very well. No more pain or discomfort in new left hip, muscles getting stronger and scar is becoming less apparent…I have right hip replacement scheduled for 4/20/22. Hoping I have the same outcome on the right side...

    THR On the Other Side

Well my other hip needs replaced., so I wouldn’t say I’m walking pain free, but the newly replaced hip is pain free and feels solid. I did walk through the grocery store the other day without crutches, but that other hip continues to make me limp.

Yes, every person is going to have a different recovery experience. I tend to push myself, but I’m only 56 years old, so I’m sure that my age gives me some advantages to healing. Just continue making progress at your own rate. Listen to your body…Happy healing.

Thank you…The new hip is doing very well. Feels solid, and no more pain. Right hip is the only thing holding me back at this point. Hope to have that one replaced soon too.(maybe April)

    THR On the Other Side

There’s definitely some muscle and soft tissue soreness for awhile post-op with either knee or hip replacement, but I find the hip is not as severe…I’m about 3 weeks post-op on the hip now and I can walk without any assistive devices, but I still use crutches when I get tired and sore. I was on...
