Hi Octopus, recovery can be up to twelve months, usually between 6 - 8 months. So hip surgery may be this time next year.

Hello Everyone, I decided to have my right hip replaced, big decision but one that had to be made. So off to the Surgeon to 'begin procedings' but alas it will not happen as soon as I hoped. The Surgeon will only replace my hip once I have a surgery to fix my arm, he said because I have only 1...

Hi MaggieElsie, thanks a lot for your very informative message. I'm very interested in finding out who the surgeon is. I think you can send a private message (I think it is called), I'm not sure how BUT think it is by clicking the Quote in PM button at the end of your entry. Give it a go and...

Boy OH Boy we have been having so many Earthquakes, some really big ones, due to the 'stuffed' leg and the arthritic hip I can't do the 'Turtle'. All good though, a few new cracks in the building, crockery and ornaments broken but no injuries.

Hi Poppet getting 'support' from anyone is helpful, I get a lot from reading the bonesmart people posts, just makes me feel someone is interested, silly I know but that is just the way it is.

Hi Octopus, I don't know what my next step is going to be. I might look into the stem-cell treatment, it won't hurt looking into it.

Hi Diodan Sorry for the late reply. No the femoral/sciatic nerve damage has not improved in anyway. It has caused complications in other parts of my body due to having to use walking aids all the time. How horrid for you to have nerve damage to your arm, I think that could be worse than using...

Hi Octopus, I've sent you a message in a personal message. Please keep the info 'personal' Maybe you could tell me where you are in New Zealand, and your experience of the earthquakes.

Hello Josephine, yes I'm back! My left hip was done using the Lateral, 27.5cm long scar I have down the left leg. I know its quite rare to have this complication (fortunately) BUT I am just soooo reluctant. There is not a hell of a lot of choice in New Zealand for Orthopedic Doctors and...

WOW! thanks heaps Guys for the prompt replies. My fears to have the Surgery is due to the horrendous situation I found myself in after having THJR on my left hip, my Femoral, Sciatic and Obturator nerves were damaged which has caused my leg to be paralysed, this is a permanent 'injury' hence my...

Hello Everyone. I have significant osteoarthritis in my right hip. I have been told it is long overdue for a replacement. Has anyone got any good ideas to help with pain, reduce the need for surgery? I read somewhere that there is a procedure that can inject stuff into the joint, does anyone...

After a recent fall I've had quite a significant sharp pain in my groin. I had an x-ray of my pelvis which did not show anything but I'm a bit concerned I may have caused some damage to the 'Ball and Stem'. Has anyone else had this issue after a fall? When my full weight is on the leg its OK but...
