    THR Considering surgery

My first hip replacement in 2018, unbearable pain I could hardly walk. I’ve just had my right hip replace, hardly any pain, occasional flair ups, ROM was getting worst. I did think shall I wait, but know from my previous hip that when it decides to go, that’s it, constant pain. Like Layla I was...

    THR Getting anxious

Hi @SurreyGirl , I remember you from 2018. Looks like your other hip needed doing the same time as my 2nd one. I’m nearly 6 weeks from my 2nd THR. Good luck for August.

THR August 18th, Into the Breech

You will not regret it. My 1sr THR was in 2018, beforehand it absolutely agony walking, then sitting, then sleeping. I felt as if I had got my life back afterwards. I knew I needed my right hip replaced at some stage and was hoping it would be a lot longer than 5 years. But this time the surgeon...

THR Proud of myself, it feels like a massive achievement!

@Hipopapotamus I’m not much help as never taken them, but have you tried an ice pad? Someone will jump on later with some other ideas. I have just been taking paracetamol.

THR Proud of myself, it feels like a massive achievement!

Hi @Hipopapotamus , you seem to be doing well. like you I always think if I’m not doing enough then i may get a DVT, then do too much and end up regret it, because I then set myself back. I have been walking around if I have found myself laying down for too long, even if a 10 minute walk around...

@Eman85 i really was hoping not to be part of that club. Lesson learnt. I’m going to take it easy, stop being inpatient.

THR Ldm right hip replacement recovery

Week 4 update. i have been out walking each day, always take a crutch with me. Walking easier. Thursday I did 20/25 min walk unaided. No pain nothing. Great, Friday walking around at home unaided, housework etc. I didn’t get out for a walk but as I was doing so much at home didn’t think one...

Hi @t4mepam , ice as much as possible, when ever I was sat down, and in the first couple of weeks that’s quite a bit, I was icing. I didn’t have pain as such but just a dull ache.

THR Ldm right hip replacement recovery

Week 3 update. I have been going out for walks started at 15 minutes and now walking for about 30 minutes. i walk with 1 crutch outside, more for support when I start flagging. At home, I walk around the kitchen doing stuff without any aids, but if I find myself starting to limp the crutch...

THR Made it to the Hip Side!

Seems you’re doing well @Momo Lee . The larger gel packs are so much better, I have so many in my freezer as one gets warm just swop over. keeping on top of the pain makes recovery so much easier.

THR Please tell me this gets better

@Chigirl hope you’re feeling a bit better today, sitting was difficult but once my staples came out it was a relief and sitting was definitely better. As for lifting your leg don’t panic, you will suddenly do it by yourself. I used a yoga strap to help me, but you can use towel or dressing gown...

Best practices for OS to diagnose and recommend a THR

@SelfHelp, I never had groin pain, it was mainly butt and side of hip, so never thought it was hip until I had an x-ray, no wonder it was getting worst no matter what I did. the Problem is once bone on bone, it won’t get better, ROM gets worst, pain can get unbearable. Be guided by your surgeon.

THR 33 a mum of 4 due op on 7th of july

Another item, that Helped which I got a few days after my op was a toilet frame, it really helped me as I struggled getting up and down onto the loo. And after pulling the toilet roll holder off the wall trying to hoist myself up on that I knew I needed something. Again Amazon. Hope all went...
