THR Finally On The Recovery Side

I hope that the “crack” heals quickly. For me, My doctor told me weight bearing as tolerated. At first I was probably only 50% but now I can stand on one foot while balancing on the walker. I wonder why things are so different? Thank goodness for this site! It helps me to find a balance.

Thanks for all the encouragement! This site has made the most sense and seemed to contain the highest level of sanity coupled with experience. my first week was rough but after getting on a pain med “routine” adding ice packs to my elevation routine and sometimes sleeping in a recliner, I have...

THR Home and on the mend.

Good to know. I had my foot raised in my hospital bed and one of the nurses locked the bed flat said don’t flex your hip. Couldn’t really tell me why and everything I read keeps saying to elevate. We really get mixed messages! I am feeling better every day and am going to try outside in the...

Thanks for the wonderful words. With regard to elevation of my hip. I worry that I will end up with a permanently flexed hip since I seem to elevate so much. Can this happen?

THR Home and on the mend.

I sure had an eventful week. With my left THR scheduled for Thursday the 8th of April, I went to the hospital at about 10:00 and did all the check in and admissions stuff. I met with the anesthesiologist and then the doctor came in. She asked if I ever had a metal allergy, I told her yes but...

    THR THR @ 33

I am not sure what really caused my issues but here I am as well. I am 56 and have struggled with this hip/back pain for about 13 years. I have done physical therapy for months, had injections, and just plain “pushed through”. I have lost half of the muscle mass on my left leg and can no...
