Revision TKR iceguy's revision recovery journey

I don't mean to scare off people that have just had this done. I am (was) a Red Head and although I have not had it verified thru DNA, I believe that I have the gene mutation M1CR that causes how we feel and deal with pain. When I first had both knees done, I went back to officiating wrestling...

Revision TKR iceguy's revision recovery journey

Now on this date, I'm 11 and 9 years post op. After sitting around quite a bit since Covid, the arthritis is getting worse and the knees are almost as bad as pre op. We are going on a vacation in Europe in April and I decided that I needed to get in better shape. So I walk most days a minimum...

THR Got My MELISA Metals Test Back

Glad I finally decided to look on Bonesmart for some information about Eosinophils. I am definitely going to have metals testing done now. I have had elevated eosinophils for the last 5 years. I have gone for allergy testing and found nothing. Been to Penn Hospital after extensive testing by...

    Finger/Thumb Finger joint replacement

Interesting to read this. I had Burton's Arthroplasty of the right thumb in February of this year. After 3 months of PT, I have pretty much full use of the thumb but the pain (which is why I went in in the first place) is still there. Joint surgeries never seem to help for me.

Revision TKR iceguy's revision recovery journey

OK, just an update @ 6 months post op. There sure is a difference between quad sparring and the old standard method of knee replacement. Not only was the incision bigger, but 6 months out, the quad is still swollen and there feels like there is something underneath it that is totally different...

TKR Diagnosing cause(s) of failed TKR

Regretful, I have been having similar problems. I had a revision on my left knee done about 10 weeks ago. Recovery has been stressful compared to the first two quad sparing operations. I have had continuous pain ever since the TKR two years ago. AT my one year checkup when told of the pain...

Revision TKR iceguy's revision recovery journey

Well, after being awoken at my usual 4 AM, something triggered a thought to research. The visiting nurse said that she had had several patients exhibit rashes on the area of surgical scrub recently. That maybe there is something in the scrub that is giving a reaction. So, doing research on...

Revision TKR iceguy's revision recovery journey

ok here I am on the other side, came home on Friday and yes it's everything I remembered and more. OS says "Sure it's worse. I had to hack and saw out the first one before I could do it the right way". Using CPM this time which is new to me. Pain meds are all messed up, the insurance won't...

Is It Really Worth It? Revision # 1

Well, tomorrow is the day. I got a time of 1:30 PM from the scheduler. I'm am the 7th operation for the day for the OS. Hope he's not worn out by that time. Life is so complicated, here's what is going on in the past month for my wife & I. 4 weeks ago we helped our daughter and son-in-law...

Is It Really Worth It? Revision # 1

Well, here we go again. Had knees done 12/12 & 1/13. I have had issues since the start. Finally after problems getting the first OS to forward all the notes and history on my surgeries I have a scheduled revision on my left knee. I was told that it is "unstable" and that a total revision was...

TKR Is it all really worth it? One Year update.

Well Folks....I have finally gotten through getting all the reports and X-rays to the new OS and based on what he sees, I will be getting a REVISION done on my left knee. It is unstable and locks up when I stand from a sitting position. The new Doc just says that "it's not the way I would have...

TKR Is it all really worth it? One Year update.

Well, I went to see a new OS last week. After X-rays and a hands on exam, he told me that the left knee is "Unstable" . I kinda knew this going in but he showed me where there is a difference in the gap when under stress and is laterally loose. He said that a tendon should have been...

TKR Is it all really worth it? One Year update.

Sibbi, I'm going to Summit Medical seeing Dr. Bullock. I had seen him 3 yrs. ago for injections but they had no effect at the time. Used Reconstructive Orthopedics in Vorhees NJ for the surgery. Thought everything was good but started having more and more issues 4 months ago. Wayne

TKR Is it all really worth it? One Year update.

Well, I'm 19 months out from surgery and I have more pain than before the operations. I have finally made an appointment with another OS in two weeks. The pain is in exactly the same place as it was before the operations. I know there is some tendonitis in other areas of the knee but this is...

TKR Is it all really worth it? One Year update.

Well, I"m now 18 months out from my first TKR and I'm in as much pain as before the operation. This is not "soft tissue" related! The pain is pretty much the same as before the replacement. It's starting to slow me down again and I feel that the whole procedure was for naught. I'm thinking...
