    Post-Op Trochleoplasty

Hey guys - it's been a couple of years now since I had my left knee trochleoplasty and TTO and I remembered this community today and how much it helped. I thought I'd post a two year update. My quality of of life has much improved - I no longer worry about my knee popping out or anything like...

Thanks. I think I'll wait to see how it feels over the next few months and if that feelings still there, I'll speak to consultant. I'm most certain it's the screws as my legs are small in general.

Hey. By passive, I meant letting my heel hang off a rolled up towel and measuring extension from that (with no external pressure or contraction of quads). I can just feel my gait off slightly. Active, as you noted, is when I contracted the muscle and it hyperextends.

11 month (nearly!) update: I can comfortably walk up stairs without railings and can go down stairs pretty much normally too (although I need to hold railings!). Stiffness in my knee is slowly going away. My ROM is at around 127°, which has increased by 2° in last few months. As mentioned...

8 month update: I continue to progress. Walking well, slowly getting faster. Knee strength is coming along, I can walk up the stairs normally without the railings. Going downstairs, still one step at a time! But that'll come as I continue to build knee strength. My ROM is still at 125° but I'm...

When you say gently and shaking the area up and down, do you mean rubbing the knee or physically moving the joint up and down? How many times a day and for how long did used to do that?

Understood and can concur with that, even before my surgery I really struggled with downhill.

I've got a general question. A bit of context - so as mentioned my knee extension (after tensing the quads) is 1/2° and I've still got some heaviness/tightness in my knee. I've noticed my gait is perfect when walking uphill but when walking on flat surfaces, there is a little bit of a limp...

Thanks. Yep, for extension, I've also added that exercise in too. Usually after 15-20 mins of stretching, my extension gets closer to 0° but then after 30 mins or so, it's back to normal. All about consistency I guess, so I'll keep on top of the extension excercises. I'll check out the pilates...

6 month update: - I'm now fully off crutches. I stopped using them at home around the 3 month mark but kept one with me when outdoors. I stopped using them outdoors now completely. I'm still a bit slow walking though but pace when walking will come. Some days, I've managed to walk past 10,000...

    Post-Op Trochleoplasty

Hi all, another monthly update - reaching almost 5 months since my surgery. I've been going out the house a few times a week now with friends and family for leisure. Things are improving, getting better and I can do most things around the house. I don't use crutches anymore really. It's only...

    Post-Op Trochleoplasty

Been a while since I posted last month. I've had a couple of hydrotherapy sessions now, which have really helped. ROM has increased to around 108°. I saw the consultant this week and he said my ROM will probs max out at 130° - which is consistent with journals/studies I've read in regards to...
