Thanks Layla.
All seems well and I think it's just healing steadily in there.
Getting on with life and my new hip is still good.
Walking is really fine - although I'm still not as fast as I used to be. I still feel unfit as covid hit the family hard just after Christmas and I was unable to do...
Twelve weeks out now.
All is fine.
Mostly forgetting about my new hip and just getting on with things.
It's just great to be walking pain free and playing with the grandchildren is good fun now.
Hoping to get back on my bike in the better weather.:bicycle1:
Trying to strengthen my thigh muscles as I know they're weak on my new hip side. So my walks now include some short but steepish hills and I can tell it's making a difference.
I hobble a bit at night, but mostly I'm walking with improvement each week.
I'm still slower than I used to be but...
Happy ten years anniversary @Hoops68 great to hear how happy you are with life now!
I hope to be hot on you heels in the coming year.
It's lovely to hear how you've regained your involement with such a variety of sport.
@Coddfish take heart as believe me I know a fair number of very active...
Ten weeks out today.
All is very ok.
No pain and side sleeping again is wonderful.
Clonking less - rolling heel/toe has helped that and my gait. Thanks @Layla .
Although I feel my gait isn't perfect yet my family say they cant see me limping at all.
I can walk as far as I fancy each day and Im...
Thank you @Layla and for your support throughout.
Eight weeks have gone by!
Have been laid low by a dreadful cold and cough for two weeks. Not covid!
It has stopped me getting out and about so much but I will catch up no problem.
But all is well with my lovely new hip!
I can do more and more...
That's so disappointing for you @Skydove.
I've an anterior too and can't imagine having staples in my groin!?
Most of us would be pretty jaded too if a surgeon just 'forgot' the agreed protocol - private or not.
I'm fine after six weeks like your guy over the road.
Not perfect but fine.
But I had an anterior op which might help a little in the process and although I'm "fine" I know the healing takes a full year and so I do plenty but don't over do anything.
This is my third joint op and for me nice and...
I'm not as analytical this time around. After my first op Im sure I probably was, just like you are..
You sound like you're doing really well despite your worryies.
You can walk smoothly, at a good pace and no pain. That's great.
Layla has given you great advice - its early days and maybe you...
Six week check was positive. X rays showed all going well.
Surgeon said wound was good.
My op was anterior and I'm very aware that makes a difference to what you can /cant do.
He got me to touch my toes - that was a shock as I didn't know it was allowed!
Normally I can touch my toes very...
Hi @Polarbear1965 I remember your name from 2013. Had my first knee then too. Then other in 2015 and now THR six weeks ago.
I've my six week checks and x-rays today.
The hip has definitely been easier pain wise than knees. :)
I know pain levels are different for everyone but you have done...
@Bodie’sMom - I am six weeks - my op was on the 19th October. I am just six days ahead of you. :)
My op was anterior and my surgeon was quite relaxed about me sleeping on my un-operated side but will ask tomorrow what is best. I suspect he won't be too bothered now.
Hoping what he sees on my...
