    TKR DebCoz's recovery thread<

I had my six week post op visit with my OS and he gave me the all clear. He’s happy with my ROM, etc. without PT and said barring any issues I won’t need to see him “for a few years”. I’m thrilled! I did ask him about my left knee (TKR 3/26/18) because I noticed a lump in the upper left part of...

Ok, I’m almost 6 weeks out of surgery on the right TKR. I’m doing well, bend is just shy of 90 degrees and extension is getting better. Pain is pretty much limited to the weird soft tissue pain/spasms. I’m walking around the house without any canes, but still take one if I go outside or out. I’m...

    TKR Spasms and sleepless nights

The advise Roy posted above is golden. I had TKR if my left knee in March 2018 and did outpatient PT but quit after three weeks because of pain and swell8ng. I followed the advice here and got much better with extension and bend. I just had TKR if my right knee on 12/17/2018 and rejected...

The soft tissue pain and twinges freak me out, it did with my left TKR back in March 2018.

I’ve been elevating every time I’m sitting and in bed at night, which I HATE. The swelling is pretty under control.

“Are you icing the back of your knee as well as the front,“. Unfortunately My OS says no ice after the first day post-op, once you’re home. I’m assuming the pain I’m feeling is from ligaments and tendons and such getting back to a semblance of normal after the TKR.

I’m getting pain/tightness behind my right knee. I’m assuming this is “normal” given my knee is new and repositioned.

I’ll try my PCP. NJ is a real pain with opioids.

Thank you for the input and advice. In ways this knee doesn’t seem as bad as the left one was when I had it replaced in March, but in other ways it seems worse. I’ll cut back a bit on what I’m doing. The soft tissue pain is awful and my OS won’t prescribe any more narcotics for pain.

I’m not sure how many mgs of Tylenol I’m taking, perhaps 3000 mg a day, 1,000 three times a day. Heel slides four times a day, sliding five times and holding for a ten count. Straightening while standing, hokdingvto a five count, five times a day Leg hang from bed morning and night Quad...

At almost three weeks out of surgery I think im doing better with the right knee post surgery than I did with the left back in March, I’m just concerned at how little I can bend it, I’m at about 80.

    1. Pain is 4-5 most of the time but goes up to 8 if I’m on it too much. 2. I was taking Hydrocodone and Tramadol but am now taking Tylenol. 3. Moderate 4. flex is about 80 extension I’m not too sure, maybe +10 5. No ice, my OS says no. 6. I elevate whenever I’m in bed and about half the...

    TKR Dolly's second knee

I had a Baker’s Cyst behind my left knee, but my OS drained it during my TKR this last March. Luckily I didn’t have one on my right knee, which I just had replaced in 12/17/18. I’m a side sleeper and it’s killing my not to be able to sleep like that b

Pain is about a 6. I’m elevating but my OS says no ice once you’re discharged.
