Wow Can't believe 3 months have passed since my surgery! I am so back to all my exercises and wildlife photography- am walking with 10 pound camera 2 miles daily and often do water aerobics in my pool in the afternoon. Sleeping on sides, stomach, don't think about it much. Haven't felt this...
Two months plus a week and ODIC CLUB:
Feeling so good about 4 days ago, I did 3 days in a row shooting (10lb camera) including a hike up uneven ground to do butterflies, carrying camera and chair to a Rookery shooting site and a mile around a wildlife pond. All of these sites in one long...
7 week update:
Got vaccinated 2 days ago ! ( Johnson & Johnson). Some arm pain ( ice packs came in handy) and tiredness but seems ok now. Have taken it easy but now ready to get back out there- have been walking a mile a day, watering garden, even did 10 minutes of very modified Zumba. Can...
Congrats @Creakyjoint I too had a spinal and the Real Pain was a couple of days out (at home) I am 7 weeks and the difference is amazing! Keep icing and taking the meds so you can be mobile. Try not to overdo as I did (and always have) Good luck!
The pool was fabulous! Some old friends were there and ended up staying in an hour ( not walking the whole time). Came home and made a stir fry and I am def tired now!
6 week update and doc appointment:
Doc says latest xray looks great, liked the way I was walking ( I stood up for the appointment (without cane) while he sat down (it felt better)) I told him about my off and on butt/thigh pain and he said it was still early and it may or may not be a...
Overdoing Club
Now a member... 76 degrees here today and both yesterday and today decided to go on my first butterfly photo hike. A friend held my camera both days until I was ready to shoot but 10 pounds is a lot of camera. Short 1/2 mile hike but too much for two days at 5 weeks. I’m sitting...
One month @Layla not two/ my op was on 2/17/21. Yesterday was my first car outing on a glorious California afternoon. Riding out to a local lagoon birdwatching and then a wonderful lunch. 2 hour nap at home and a little sore today Wonderfully surprised at the strength in my hip/ no prob at...
Day 33
Doing better after shoulder/ neck strain. On cane 80% of time. 1/2 Oxy every 8-10 hours but often go longer. Neck/shoulder/arm issues limits mobility on assistive devices. Hip is doing well, getting stronger every day. Took my first upright shower this week by myself! Doing stairs and...
I have various chairs with pillows around the house and on my porches (I live in California). The most comfortable place is sitting up in bed again with 10 pillows fore and aft. I have a 65 inch tv in my bedroom and chill out here a lot. I have an Airon office chair that I use at the dining room...
So happy you are back on that list. I limped for years and when the pain was constant and barely controlled by oxycodone in March of last year I made the appointment. COVID came and it was another 10 month wait. It is a longer recovery when you wait as long as I did but it is already 100 times...
Wow-I really feel for you. I had hip and back issues for several years before my surgery and the surgeon told me with my sciatica and issues it would not be a simple recovery. I have my son living with me and a couple of good friends stopping by but that first week was hell. My son had to lift...
Day 23
The stairs!!! Yay!! Went up and down and walked with cane over to the pool with the PT lady. Lots easier than I thought it would be. Will rest this afternoon although my adrenalin is still going!
Day 22
Took a shower and washed my hair ( with help from a friend)! Feel so clean! This week really feeling more strength in op leg. 1000 intentional steps daily continued icing resting. 1/2 Oxy every 8 hours but can go 11-12 overnight. Still waiting on PT to do stairs. Cabin fever for sure!
Day 20
Using the cane a little as tired of walker. Did raise the walker up a notch so I am not so bent over it. Have def more strength in op leg. PT lady comes around once a week but we don’t do much. She is very conscious that I might overdo which is prob a good notion in my case. I am sitting...
