Shaughan yeah I'm thankful for the nz/aus systems.I lived in Aus for a long time was hospitalised with arthritis of the same knee at Royal Prince Alfred in Sydney; it was like a hotel.I'm doing better now because I have been diagnosed and it isn't an infection. I'm a bit grumpy because they...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

Well I'm relieved that it's a blood clot rather than an infection. I am still in hospital as the clot is so large.I will be on a blood thinner for about nine months. Wheww.

    TKR Through the Black Hole

Hello. After consultation with my GP I was told to go to hospital. The GP I saw didn't think it was an infection. He rang orthapedics and they wanted to see me pronto.Hospital is an hour and a half away. When there I had an xray and blood test.My blood test tested D-Dimmer which was high...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

Bad news after a very stiff and swollen knee Dr arranged a blood test orthapedic coordinator at the hospital rang for me to have appointment with GP ASAP as white blood cells ok but CRP levels elevated. Needless to say I'm worried. Knee very stiff. Doesn't seem to be improving much after rest...

TKR Increase of stiffness and back of knee pain<

I have found that static stretches have really reduced my swelling and stiffness.Holding for minutes rather than seconds. The more I improve my ROM the more comfortable and loose my knee movement; which is antithetical to the Kneescene Creed!!!

My knee is stiff most mornings now. When it's stiff I limp; I can loosen the knee up by static flexion; bending the knee and leaving it there for minutes rather than seconds. Is my stiff knee a symptom that something is wrong? I'm 11 weeks out and concerned about adhesions. I've...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

It's been nearly 11 weeks.I feel more confident on the knee now and found that one session of p/t helped as I was limping. The p/t cured the limp. My pain went after 5 weeks. I found the first two weeks really gruelling. My knee clicks on the lateral side but little pain the occasional...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

I feel that reconditioned knee feeling on the lateral side. I'm not getting much pain just a weird alien feeling of a retread knee. I feel pressure on the lateral tibia. When I saw the surgeon I didn't have much to say to him but would you submit to a breath test. I'm kidding. I asked him...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

Hi Jodinger I still have some small scabs on my wound so I'm afraid to massage it at the moment. I still have a bit of paranoia about my new knee. Every time I launch out on it I feel like Captain Cook (or is that Captain Hook) not sure if I'll return. I'm grateful though for the skill of...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

Nearly five weeks post op and I've made strides in the last few days. Massaging the IT Band seemed to help my knee have more stability and the overly hypersensitive awareness of mechanism of the implant is not nearly as overt. I can now walk without the cane although I still use it...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

I was disappointed to not receive a reply oh well but fortunately I may have found the solution to my problem. Ever since my TKR I've had a painful left thigh especially when getting up in the morning.I've also had a hyper sensitivity to the knee hardware as explained in my previous post...

    TKR Through the Black Hole

I'm at 4 weeks 3 days post op and I am still very aware of the "mechanism" in my knee.I feel this strange alien block is in my knee and I have this fear that the knee joint will fail.I use a cane to support my knee; today I went for a walk to someone place; possibly 7 minutes each way. To try...
