    PKR A Partial Knee

I had 2 PKRs. I’d call both successful. For each, i was on pain meds for 6 months. with all the cutting, pounding, and sawing, I guess pain is normal. I had to fight And grovel for opiates. It was worth it.

    PKR QdogPa recovery

I have had 2 PKRs. For the 1st, I did aggressive PT. For the second, I did minor PT with daily activity. Since no 2 surgeries are the same, I can’t reach conclusions and the second surgery was worse from the beginning, but I made more progress with aggressive PT on knee 1

TKR 10 Days After Surgery Back Flaring

After each of my PKRs, my back pain was debilitating. In each instance, it lasted between 3 an 4 months and then went away. For replacement one, I used Oxycodone to get by. For number 2, I could only get oxycodone for 2 months and it took serious begging. After that, I took tramadol even...

    PKR Metal Knee

I have been happy with my PT. I used the same therapist for both PKRs. The problem is that therapists follow wildly different protocols. Mine gave massage to move swelling, emphasized slow progression on exercise, and didn’t do anything that caused pain. That doesn’t seem to be everyone’s...

    PKR My Second PKR

Here’s an update at almost 4 months. My second PKR has been more of a challenge than the first. My flexion is just over 120, it was 135 at this time on knee #1. I can take stairs bilaterally with minor pain. I can walk 3 or 4 miles, with some heat in the knee, I can do light leg weights, so...

    PKR Worst than first<

I am in a similar place to you. I have less function and more pain than knee #1. I guess they are all different. My surgeon says that the implant is great and that difference in pain is just soft tissue healing. My surgeon doesn’t track pain after 2 months and my internist put me on...

    PKR My Second PKR

Medication questions - 1. My internist has prescribed Gabapentin for pain management. Are there problems with stopping this medication? 2. Because I had stomach issues so that I couldn’t tolerate either Ibuprofen or Tylenol, he has me taking Prilosec twice a day morning and night. It is...

    PKR My Second PKR

Pain question. As with the first replacement, my biggest recovery issue is dealing with pain. In general, my function is good, I can walk several miles, climb 3 flights of stairs, I feel like my function is where it should be, and am not pushing too hard. I have almost no swelling although...

PKR Exercise & Gym Classes etc after Patello-Femoral Replacement

    PKR My Second PKR

Toothache question: I am 4 weeks out from my PKR. My post surgical instructions say to avoid dental procedures for4 months. Now, I have a mild toothache. I don’t feel like there is an infection at this time. Any recommendations?

    PKR My Second PKR

Almost 4 week update. Nothing significant to report. I was hoping that knee number 2 would be easier because of experience and all that, but not so. My knee is progressing like last time which is good, and I am only doing minimal PT. Cutting back on PT has not slowed my recovery at all. My...

    PKR My Second PKR

Hey, Jockette, thanks for the note. The right knee functions pretty well. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s like the original. It tends to ache at night and I have to be careful about laying one leg over the other. I can pretty much do what I want, but it’s slightly stiffer and never feels...

    PKR My Second PKR

Please change my thread name to My 2nd PKR I had a medial PKR on my left knee on 7/9/19, a little more than 2 years after I had the PKR on the right knee. This was also a Makoplasty Stryker replacement. Surgery went well and I went home the following morning with just a cane. I’m almost 2...

    PKR Tightness to extreme!<

I had a partial 2 years ago. Like you, I had swelling and pain at 5 weeks. My physical therapist gave me light exercise and light massage to reduce the swelling. I think the exercise and massage helped. I don't think physical therapy is a bad idea, but like everyone here says, stressing...

    PKR Zab’s recovery thread.

As everyone else will tell you, rom isn’t an issue. It will come when the swelling is gone. You are doing great!
