    THR A 39 year old's recovery

I found a combination that has actually worked! I kept asking for botox to paralyze my overactive muscles but no one hear had heard of that being done. Dry needling was a god send for me. It took awhile to find all the right muscles, I think it was like uncovering the layers of an onion. We...

@Kim22 Dry Needling uses acupuncture needles but they don't just put them in one place and leave them there, the practitioner pokes the needle in and out of the muscle where the trigger points are and it does wonders for releasing tensions and calming them down which in turn allows the right...

So I have an update. I think we've found the culprit of the pain whenever I walk. The sartorius. It was sufficiently punished yesterday while my pt needled the hell out of it... Wow it hurt! But that's a good sign. Walking on the track did not bring on my pain... So fingers crossed that was...

Thanks all. That is part of the problem @forbesy, the hip replacement surgeon is done with me (except for yearly check ups) bc as far as he's concerned, his work (the new joint) is fine. The guy who did the psoas repair and release along with bursectomy considers his work done bc I can now...

Congrats on forgetting about your hip ya lucky you know what! I do nothing now so I can't really do less. Cant go grocery shopping without pain, can't walk for more than 3-4 minutes without the pain starting in my hip flexors. Can't swim bc of the same problem so I'm back on the couch...

So I'm no longer working out. Can't walk through the grocery store without my hip flexors hurting. It's all soft tissue stuff, I'm getting dry needled weekly and doing pilates PT. But I still hurt and I'm almost at 2 year anniversary and I can't say that my hip replacement helped much at...

I think I'm starting to use my muscles the right way! Slowly but surely. I'm getting some dry needling done on Friday. They think some of my scar tissue from my 4 hip surgeries are creating restrictions that is making it hard for the muscles to work right. So have pain, some days worse than...

What they all said ^^ It can take some time for it to work. I was actually surprised when it worked so fast for me. And if it doesn't work then you know you were barking up the wrong tree and you'll have to keep looking. I'm still trying to figure out all my aches and pains. Thinking about...

Guilty as charged @Michegon! I'm trying to take it easy, the problem is I don't know I've over doing it until after! But you are totally right and I'm trying to restrain myself.

@whiteshoecovers For me it felt weird initially because a bunch of medicine had been shot in there but within a few hours I noticed a significant improvement in my ROM. Like I could lift my leg higher then ever before. I don't remember getting a cortisone flare afterwards it just seemed to get...

@whiteshoecovers can't wait to hear about the results of the psoas injection. It will be very clear (it last it was for me), just took like a day for the weirdness of the injection to wear out. Keep me posted!

Hey @whiteshoecovers ! I'm back to working out, I'm weak overall but my psoas is much stronger. I can lift my leg to get into the car and put my pants on which is very exciting. Been working on walking by pushing off my big toe and using my glutes instead of my TFL. Lots of glute medius...

@whiteshoecovers I would say, more than where the pain is, can you lift your leg to get into the car? Can you do straight leg raises while laying down without pain? Can you lift your leg while standing to put your pants on?

Yes and yes, it's all dependent on the person. I personally think I (and perhaps you) have had so many hip issues for so long our compensation patterns make it harder to get back to normal. I too bought a fitbit bc I was constantly overdoing it. It never felt like I had done much but blam...
