THR Three months post op !

Just wanted to give an update - it’s now 9 months since the operation - things are much improved - I’m swimming for 30-40 minutes (doing 35 lengths) three times a week and walking about 9000 steps daily - my hip is doing great - time is a great healer - I just wanted to let you all know your...

THR Three months post op !

Yes I’m trying to be patient - it’s hard to go so slow but it seems like it’s the only way - my body has forced me to behave more gently and progress slowly. Your advice about overdoing it and taking it easier was spot on !

Thank you so much for your reassurances - I took your advice and have eased off immensely after your response - I stopped “exercising” ie. doing my 30 minute lengths in the pool and walking too much. I have been taking it a lot easier on myself and guess what - The pain has lessened !!! I’m...

THR Three months post op !

Thank you for your reassurances - funnily enough I’ve just read the five P’s of hip recovery and yeah patience is the key. Maybe I am overdoing it but am constantly surprised at how little “doing” is over doing it. I like the swimming as I believed I need the exercise to build up all the...

THR Three months post op !

It’s five months since my surgery. I’d love to say I’m fully recovered but I’m still having a good deal of pain at times. I don’t understand why and the physiotherapist says it’s everything realigning (and she says I over do things) which doesn’t sound right to me as some evenings I have to...

Things are improving very slowly - the physio says I’m doing too much and expecting too much too soon. I’m now just doing the 15 min walk each day - trying to do some of the exercises when I can and not pushing it if they hurt - going for a gentle swim twice a week (if I can) - taking anti...

Yes I’m icing both my hips and lower back ! It does help. Also try to get some sleep with aid of heat pads. Taking anti-inflammatories and paracetamol. I suppose I will have to wait and see if time heals all these issues. Thank you all for your comments.

THR Three months post op !

Thank you all so much for your comments - I am trying to get more rest and NOT doing the exercises for the moment - I am getting lots of help at home and will use my crutch/cane more when doing some more gentle walks - I’m trying not to stand for long periods and hoping with time the pain will...

THR Three months post op !

I’m so glad I’ve found this website. I am three months post op. I had a total right hip replacement on 6th sept 2021. I need some reassurance or advice please ? I’d be very grateful for any ideas of what to It’s been ten years of hip and back pain on and off. In 2017 an MRI scan showed FAI...
