TKR Pain relief requirements at 4 months

I’m genuinely surprised but after using a 5mm cork heel lift for a few days I can really feel a difference! I’m no longer fighting hard not to walk with a limp so walking is a lot less effortful. And I think the ITB and lateral calf pain is not as severe. I really didn’t think it would make much...

TKR Pain relief requirements at 4 months

1yr post surgery today. Functionally my left knee is way better than it was pre-op so I’m grateful for that. It still has a way to go before I can walk without thought but it’s still improving, and the flexion/extension is plenty good enough for most of my activities and is also still improving...

Thank you @Layla. I had hoped the line might be straightening out by now but i guess that’s not how it works! A good physio session but she suggested I made an appointment to see my OS when I pointed out the warmth over my patella. she actually hasn’t noticed until i showed her. I’ve not been...

Thank you for your encouraging words @Jockette! I’m in a lot less pain this morning so everything seems a lot brighter. And a physio appointment this afternoon which always improves things (no exercises from her, just a lot of manual therapy that really helps!).

Thanks for sharing your experience @Rockgirl4 It does sound very similar and like you I definitely had problems with calf tightness before the surgery. My TKR L knee was always my “good” knee that did all the work protecting my right knee which had a cruciate ligament repair 30yrs ago. It...

TKR Pain relief requirements at 4 months

Thanks @EalingGran. I think you’re absolutely right about this adding to my misery yesterday. I was fine after the flight out there but on day flights I get up and move about more. The overnight flight is 6hrs sitting with my legs bent plus the pressure changes, then the long trek through the...

TKR Pain relief requirements at 4 months

Hi I didn’t properly reply to your message- sorry. It’s tightness on the lateral part of my calf, peroneus longus and brevis I think and around the fibular head. When it gets bad it can cause discomfort in the lateral part of my foot where the tendons insert. I think it’s related to a tight...

    TKR Clicking, Clunking post op...anyone?

I’m at 6 months snd sitting outside the physiotherapist’s office feeling very much the same. It’s depressing and causes some anxiety for me, so I reslly sympathise with your impatience. I still need both paracetamol and ibuprofen regularly and I know it if I haven’t taken the full amount. But if...

TKR Pain relief requirements at 4 months

Hello again, I have a lot of tension in my calf muscles which is restricting my ankle flexion and making it difficult to cycle. Is it ok to use a massage gun on leg muscles after a TKR? I’m worried about the effect of vibrations on the implant, though I am now 6months out so it should be firmly...

TKR Pain relief requirements at 4 months

Thank you for this info- I really hope it does disappear after a year or two.. I’ve just come back to rainy UK after a month by the sea in Massachusetts and I’m really noticing the difference! Praying for a sunny, warm autumn.. And thanks all for your responses- much appreciated. This site is...

TKR Pain relief requirements at 4 months

Hi again everyone First an update since my last post. I’m now nearly 6 months post op and still needing to take ibuprofen and paracetamol regularly and on schedule to keep comfortable. I’m resigned to that for now, and to be fair that’s what I needed to do pre op as well. Ibuprofen seems the...
