Today is my one year 'Hippy Birthday' ............and all I have to say is

'I wish I'd done it sooner.'

:egypt-dance::egypt-dance::egypt-dance::egypt-dance::egypt-dance:

It was a very difficult decision to make, it was a complex operation because of my history and I thought long and hard before I felt the time was right to bite the bullet.

The past 12 months of trials and tribulations are documented in my recovery thread 'Shopping Trips', anyone who knows me will know it has not been plain sailing but I absolutely do not regret having my THR for one minute. (Ok, maybe for a very short time on day 2 when I hadn't got adequate pain management!:snork:)

:ThankYou:I love this forum and I'm so glad I found it, it has helped me tremendously and continues to do so. So thank you to everyone who's part of the BS family.

Hippy Birthday to me! (and Marlow Steve)

Many Hippy returns Lisa.

I know it's not all been a breeze but great to read how much you are "enjoying" your new hip.

Now make a wish !

I can't believe a year has passed so quickly!!
It's amazing how fast time goes.
Happy birthday to your hip:biggrin:

I know Tykey, doesn't seem 5 minutes since I had loads of time on my hands to hang out in the social room. You made me smile so many times with your crazy threads...:th_heehee: Thank you.

Happy, happy "hippy birthday" Lisa, thank for inspiring us all and well done. :thumb:

Congratulations Lisa. You've been through a lot but have come out stronger and pain free ( well most of the time ;-)). Make sure you celebrate this weekend and have a drink on me!! May you have many more hip years.

Happy First Hippy Day Lisa!

[Bonesmart.org] One Year Anniversary

I'm so looking forward to being able to post something very very similar on my first anniversary as well. Although if things go as planned, I may be having my other hip done a year from now. We shall see.

Well done, Lisa!!! This is a true milestone. Many more great years are ahead.

Hallo, Lisa,

Well done for coming through a tricky year. This is a new kind of anniversary. I never thought of celebrating mine on Nov 26, but I was in fact on the beach at Tenerife that day so that's got to be good. We lay on the beach reading our books and kept dipping into the sea, not bothering to dry on getting out. Bliss! Seems like a distant memory now.

I wish you all the best for the coming year, and hope all the niggles, and worse, will clear up fairly soon. You sound like a vibrant lady, full of life and you don't deserve this sort of rubbish.

All the best, Alan

Yes, Hippy Birthday to us, Lisa!

Glad to hear your are getting there.

My one year review ..well...
I've been one of the lucky many who has got through this with plane sailing, driving at 6 weeks, back to work at 8 eight weeks, got fed up with leaving my cane in the car at 10 weeks.

I lost 10 kilos pre-op and put them all back on by Sept, I've now lost them again and 8 more and am feeling great. I spent last week in the Lake District, cycled up Borrowdale and around Derwentwater, and went walking on the fells.

The surgeon and PT's point of view ....get them fixed, improve your mobility, it will improve your life and give you a chance to sort out your weight. ..well it seems to be working for me.

I started a new class at my gym this morning(BodyPump) and when asked by the instructor, I declared a few problems with my knee, the hips are looking after themselves these days.

Hope you are all well
Here's to the next few years

Steve

Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for sharing your story in the other thread, it has been inspirational to me as a fellow CDH person :friends:. Here's to many more years for you to work in the garden, dance with your friends, swim & bike, walk around your lovely area and much, much more (and may the bumps in the road be fewer as time progresses)!!

Take good care,
Cardie

Lisa

Happy Birthday Lisa,

Wishing all the best now and forever....

xxooxx

Hippy Birthday to you! I love it! I will have to do something special on my "hip birthday" - hopefully something fun that includes a lot of walking. I think I will send my Mom a Hippy Birthday card for her 1st anniversary in February and then celebrate my 1st anniversary this August. I'm happy for you and I wish you continued fun for a long, long, long time! :thumb:

Lisa

This says it all

'I wish I'd done it sooner.'

Despite a few difficulties you have come through.

From now on, great years ahead for you.
