THR I need a new hip GRRR

Hi I notice my thread is labeled revision THR. But it isn't. It's my first thr, I have 2 TKRs already.

I'm so sorry to read this, @Campervan. I think you were wise to stop that exercise and give things a chance to settle down.

Have you tried icing and elevating to reduce the swelling? You might want to take anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen for a few days to help.

I've also lost ROM in both knees and they look swollen although not massively. They're definitely weak as I struggle to get up off chair and toilet. Also can't put my feet on breakfast bar stool footrest but I usually can.
I'm very sorry to hear that. I have knee replacements as well and the more I walk with a terrible gait due to the hip, the more my knees ache. I am hoping it will all sort out when I can walk properly again. I hope recovery is quick.

Thanks all. I iced and elevated for about 20 minutes every couple of hours for the past two days. Today everything is much better. The bakers cyst at the back of my left knee is still there but isn't bothering me now.

My hubbie has had a really bad cold, cough, sore throat for the past week and is still quite sick. So far I've managed to avoid catching it. But today I can feel a tickle in my throat so dosing up on Vitamin C, lots of water, paracetemol and prayers. My hip surgery is just over 3 weeks away - if I do go down with his bugs is my surgery potentially going to get cancelled?

Well, I'm back. I knew I would be one day. I had RTKR 2011 and LTKR 2015. My right hip started playing up in 2014 after I fell off an office chair, but since then has been great. About 6 weeks ago I started with pain in my buttock, groin, outside of hip, down my thigh and around my knee. XRay has shown various issues, with basically moderate osterarthrosis. Its going downhill so fast that I can't survive the day without pain in every step I take unless I've taken diclofenac 75SR. Keeps me awake at night.

My physio and my GP both say its time to get it replaced. I'm ok with that but wondering which surgeon to use. My knee surgeon, who is absolutely marvellous in my opinion is around 3.5 hours drive away and like me is advancing in years being mid 60's. He is so meticulous. There's a surgeon recommended to me by my physio that is only 1.25 hours away and is in his late 40's I think.

Do I go to the tried and proven surgeon or risk the younger guy?
Like I always it is worth every time, effort and pain to travel further if you have to to get a great surgeon. These are surgeries you really dont want to have to redo multiple times and are worth doing even if you have to travel a lot further. Even better that you already know a fantastic surgeon.

The majority of upper respiratory infections resolve on their own within 10 days, so you will probably be fine. See how you feel next week. Ultimately, it will be the decision of the surgical team, of course.

Best Wishes tomorrow, Campervan!
