Does anybody have the same problem as me?

Problem with SUFEs (slipped upper femoral epiphyses) is that they initially present as aches and pains and when mom take her child to the doctor he casually pronounces it to be 'growing pains'! Bleh! No such thing! So, by the time the poor kid has got to the point of not sleeping properly, not being able to play footie (football to the uneducated! Or soccer to you non-Brits!), can't run or any other similar thing, the doctor finally decides to send him (occasionally her) for an xray and "Oh look! SUFEs!".

It happens a lot and we often see the consequences in the joint replacement field. Some fail to get spotted at all and the child struggles through their teenage years just aware that they are 'different'. It isn't until something happens in their 20's that makes them seek proper medical investigation only to find that things have advanced beyond the simple fixes. Sad, sad. Seen it so many times.
