Three months! I'm still a bit stiff and sore, and working on my walking gait with PT and strengthening exercises. I also need to increase my stamina. But so much better than a month ago! Happy spring in Maine, where we are experiencing a massive snowstorm today. Figures. I am home, not going out...

Thanks for the advice and support. Last night I took the Ativan as soon as I started feeling the muscles constantly tightening. Before going to bed I had a cup of hot Ovaltine with milk. And I read until I was really sleepy. I did fall asleep until 2:30 am, a big improvement. Then an hour awake...

I've been checking in with some of the other January Jackpots, and it's reassuring that I'm not the only one still very much in recovery mode. It's two months today, and I'm just very tired. I'm trying to get out to some activities, attended church yesterday and it was great to be out and seeing...

I hear you about dulling pain before PT. I actually read the article about Bonesmart's feelings on exercises and looked at the ones that are NOT recommended. My new PT was pretty gentle during this first session, but he did suggest the clamshells, which I firmly declined. First, because I saw it...

Checking in with a question about painkillers. I am 4 weeks post op. Night time is still hugely challenging. I am up 2 or 3 times in the night, often with severe muscle pain, stiffness, tender skin. Beginning at 5 pm I get squirrelly. Fidgety, sore, stiff. I've cut back the Dilaudid to one 2 mg...

Well let's hope after I'm finished healing from this knee there won't be a need for long term NSAID treatment!

I looked that up. I take Omeprazole, which is also a proton pump inhibitor so I think I have that covered. My husband usually brings me a half banana in the morning with the dichlofenac so I'll have something in my stomach. I also find myself nibbling on crystallized ginger when I've taken a few...

Wow good to know. I generally have had good luck with NSAID meds as far as stomach issues but I'll be careful.

Yes @MSuki the new med is diclofenac. Just 2 pills a day. I can't say if it's making a huge difference or if my swelling and pain are naturally going down a little. Last night for the first time I felt a little better for the first leg of the night. Not quite so tight in the muscles. Once I had...

Two week post op update. I saw the PA on Thursday and all looks good. Removing the staples wasn't pleasant but didn't take long. She gave me a new NSAID to use that may provide more relief than the ibuprofen or naproxen, which I've been taking with acetaminophen and hydromorphone. It's a pill...

Thanks @AnnYo . You know this in your head when you read the wonderful Bonesmart materials but believing it is another story! Unfortunately my PT found the dreaded foam roller on my bedroom and wants me to use it for those under the knee lifts. I get 2 reps about a half inch with pain. Forget it...

Great suggestion but my bedroom is upstairs. I've found with my legs on a pillow I can sleep 2 or 3 hours at a time. Big improvement. Still a work in progress. Enjoying the snow to look at out here!

Thank you! At this point, "whatever it takes" comes to mind. Thanks for all these great suggestions.

Yes, removing staples isn't pleasant but I think it will make it easier to bend. It just works better for me to combine the different actions from the two meds. The doc approves so I'm doing it for now.
