I originally had TKRs in 2000/2001 that worked out great. In 2012, I had my left knee removed due to a strep infection requiring emergency surgery, six weeks in long term care on IV antibiotics, an attempted knee revision several weeks later that had to be cancelled due to finding a staph infection in my shin bone, insertion of a pik line so I could be on antibiotics 24/7 for six more weeks under home care, a blood clot in my arm from the pik line, and finally a knee revision after spending five months in a wheelchair. I had to wait six weeks to start PT due to the fragility of the incision due to three surgeries in the same spot within five months. It was a long ordeal, but I came through it and got back on my feet, albeit walking with a cane. On May 18, 2015 I had right knee revision due to the knee being loose from two falls that occurred in the early 2000s. I'm now in the process of recovering again, and finding it much harder than I remember 15 years ago and even just three years ago. What's up with that? Oh yeah, I'm older.:sigh:
