I don’t think it has loosened at all, might be the position in the image. I had 2 bone scans done to check for that issue within the last few months. I’m concerned about the Cerclage cable because I feel like I’m being stabbed , pinched from the inside.
I had a look and I found one that seemed quite similar to my situation. A lot look to be more about the fractures than the wires. I’m going to investigate this further with the surgeons but neither think this could be the cause of my pain from my initial concerns about it.
Thanks Layla. I had a second opinion as well and both surgeons said “ it shouldn’t cause any issues” but neither can seem to find the source of my pain so I’m thinking that could be the cause.
I have a question about Cerclage wires. I had my hip replacement almost 3 years ago now and I’ve never got over the pain. It improved to a point in the first 6 months, but I still have a similar pain level than before just in a different way. I get frequent sharp stabbing pains in the area just...
Thanks for that info. I think Waterford would be too far as I’m based in Cork city. I might ring them though and see who they might recommend. I saw one surgeon at the cuh but I just want to be sure before making a final decision.
That would be great. I met with one surgeon who I was referred to by my gp but as I don’t know anyone here who’s had the surgery I don’t know much about his reputation. My first impression was positive overall but t I want to know my options. Thanks
Has anyone on the forum had their surgery done in Cork, Ireland? If so hospital and surgeon recommendations would be appreciated. Feel free to send me a message privately too.
It’s not the soon it’s the ever that I worry about. I plan to organise the surgery for next December if I can as it would give me 7 or 8 months before Summer holidays with the kids.
Hi Jaycey, that’s super helpful! I’m not planning on skydiving or bungee jumping either but I really enjoy ice skating, skiing, surfing and racquet sports so limitations would be a big issue for me in making my decision.
I know it should be the surgeon’s choice as to approach but from what I’ve read depending on which approach is used the limitations afterward are different. That’s a major concern for me as I still want to do all the activities I enjoy. And different surgeons have different approaches so how...
Really helpful and supportive comments. Like everyone I think I’m trying to avoid nsaids as much as possible. And it’s reassuring to hear that the pain is similar to others as the cramping feeling was a bit confusing. Have decided to see a counselor as well to help me through the bad feelings...
Thanks for the support! It’s the same feeling for me. The is it really that bad and how will it impact the rest of my life questions that makes it hard to decide.
Hopefully 6 week will suffice for a part time desk job. I could possibly work from home as well. The health system here is luckily different from the USA and while I have to pay half of the physio and check ups, the surgery and hospital stay should be fully covered.
Hopefully the home nursing will be covered in part at least. The dogs will be the hardest. Any local teenagers who would dogsit? Might be worth asking around just in case.
