I'm back, 10 days post-op for knee #2. All going great so far. First knee that was done on 11/14 is wonderful! Wish i'd done it years ago. It was nice to have this thread to go back through and see progression on knee#1. Icing. elevating, sleeping mostly right now, giving knee#2 time to rest and...

What is considered a normal or "goal" ROM post-surgery?

I would like to hear some opinions from those who have had hyaluronic acid injections in a natural (not replaced) knee. My non-surgical knee is really slowing down my recovery and isn't scheduled for replacement until March. Cortisone didn't do much and can't get another pre-surgery anyway.

Maybe. I'm sure it'll get better with time but even sweats rubbing it are a little irritating.

Does anyone have suggestions for a very sensitive scar? I'm about to hit 4 weeks out and it's uncomfortable to wear jeans because my scar is very sensitive, even with flannel lined jeans. I've been hanging out at home in sweats but it's cold outside and sweats won't do. Any thoughts?

TKR Dr. vs Ins on pain meds

I think having that second knee acting up makes it a bit harder to recover from the first TKR. I know i'd like to do more walking and moving around, but my un-fixed knee makes it a lot more difficult. I actually worry about it giving out and making me fall, and hurting my lovely new knee. So...

I was taking Tramadol pre-surgery along with meloxicam and found it worked pretty well, and didn't knock me out like the oxycodone has been doing. I switched today to Tramadol (one AM, one 6 hours later) and there was a marked difference in how I felt in terms of sluggishness, so I guess it'll...

I think my surgeon must be kind of light on the post-surgery meds. 3000mg/day of tylenol was what i was sent home on. Along with 300mg gabapentin/3xday, which someone on here noted was a fairly light dose. Interesting how different surgeons handle it differently. This site sure is a great resource.

paracetemol=tylenol, correct? That looks like a lot of tylenol. I'm on 3000 mg per day (1000/8 hours). Looks like a lot of tramadol too. When i was using it pre-surgery, i'd take 50mg in the morning and another 50 mg mid-afternoon and that did the trick for me. Hoping it will work as well...

Thanks all! I had read all of the articles but it was good to hear some personal experiences. PA says i can do tramadol during the day and oxycodon at night. That should help some with my energy problems. Oxycodon really knocks me out.

Speaking of pain meds, i don't find tramadol knocks me out (just the opposite actually), where the oxycodon i have for pain does. I'd like to switch over to tramadol (took it for months before surgery). Is there anything i need to know or do, like wait xx hours or a day between, anything like that?
