@NavyGunns and @KitKat64 I'm a little too nervous to actually watch the procedure yet... I don't do well with medical stuff :heehee:
Day 14 post-op!
Got my staples removed today! Also got my first xrays post op and they look great! So excited to see my knee caps actually tracking where they...
@Rhodyrhody I just saw that you are coming up on surgery soon! I'm assuming that's the reason for all the questions! Let me know if you have more! I would highly recommend pre-op PT if you're not doing it already.
@Rhodyrhody No worries! Is there a specific reason you are curious?
I am able to sit with my legs down for reasonable chunks of time, I just try not to remain that way for more than 20ish minutes so that I can make sure my swelling stays under control. It usually doesn't increase my pain...
@Rhodyrhody I am getting slowly better at getting around. I can walk unaided but I still drag the walker around for balance. I don’t lean on it at all, though. My pain level is between 0 and 2 when I’m sitting/relaxing and 2-3 when up and moving. At night it can sometimes climb to 5ish. I am...
Day 6 post surgery
I'm at my parent's house and since leaving the hospital I have been sleeping so much better. Last night I slept for 7 hours straight! New PR! That is also the first time I slept past my med recharge. Usually I wake up shortly before I'm due.
I was able to reduce my...
All the days are blending into one, so it seems like an eternity since what I last posted even though it was only 2 days ago...
My BP has been fine since the second day and my pain regimen has been keeping me going. I've had the most pain as I'm going to sleep and when I wake up in the...
Well, as much as I am satisfied with my progress today, I will probably take a mini step backward tomorrow since I ended up doing quite a bit for my first real day. My legs are feeling stiffer and more achy even now.... but I will stay positive and take it one day at a time!
Great news! I sat upright in the chair for a while and felt decent. When the PTs came back, they checked my BP and it was good sitting with my feet on the floor. I told them I wanted to try to stand and they agreed I stood up and still felt ok, they checked my BP and it was holding steady, so...
@MCC I'm on oral diluadid and Tylenol today and it's going ok. The IV diluadid helps more but I'm trying to stay off of it, and so far I've been successful! My sleep got better today, and I've been taking lots of nice naps! :alarm: So far no movies, I haven't had the attention span to do much...
@Jockette and @sistersinhim
Other than when he measured, they haven't been touching them, just letting me hang in order to try to stand up. I'll make sure to be direct with them. Hanging my legs is ok once I get them down. The process of getting them down is very slow as they stretch out...
Thanks again everyone, this forum really helps me.
I am not going to let the PT hurt me. He wanted to get a measurement so I hung them over the side of the bed. That hurt a lot, but he didn't force anything.
They are trying to wean me off the IV injection of diluadid onto the pill version...
Day 1:
It is hurting so much! The PT came in and had me bend my legs over the bed. I couldn't help balling my eyes out. It was awful! My roommate had one done and she's had barely any pain and is walking though the halls. She came in yesterday and is getting discharged today. I tried to walk a...
Not a good night last night. I slept in chunks of about 1 or 2 hours and was waking up in a lot of pain. Had to take the diluadid several times. The nurse said this will probably be the last day that I can get that medication. They'll need to switch. I'm worried about that because it's really...
Thank you @SherrieT I'm on a regiment of roxy every 4 hrs, Tylenol every 6, and diluadid as needed every 4. I'm being very strict with the roxy and Tylenol. The diluadid makes me not feel good, so I think I'll be using it mostly to sleep. It goes directly into my IV so it kicks in right away...
Day 0:
This morning I got my new knees! Today has been a painful day, but now that I'm at the end of the day, I still haven't had regrets.
Interestingly, during surgery I remember waking up and hearing a saw and feeling someone banging on my leg. No pain and I didn't care in my medicated...
