Yes, I had a lot of swelling- did go down after a bit- just be sure to put you feet up when you are laying down

I used raised toilet seats that sit on the toilet and made it higher with no problem
For the shower-I have a tub shower- it really was not a problem- just get someone to show you how to hold on to the wall and get in and out.

I was released After 2 nights and did go to inpatient rehab-it was a subacute facility but I was there for a week-it was perfect for me-I live alone. Two doctors said I would be fine at home, but I wasn't willing to cook and clean up and food shop, etc- much easier to wait a week when you...
I feel really silly but I'm really curious- for. Woman, does the scar stick out below the bathing suit line?
I'm assuming it is generally a pretty thin Lu e or am I wrong?

Thank you for your quick response!! It makes me feel better-I have the raised toilet seats-will need a grabber I expect-people will come and go and help, but mostly it will be me-
What did you do for rehab?
Is there much discomfort from the surgery?
For the knee, I used...
I am very much looking forward to getting a new hip- I'm not particularly worried about the surgery, but have no idea how I will feel when they send me home two days later Nd how I will manage. I had less trepidation with my knees because I went to inpatient rehab.
So any info on how you...

I live in ny, 37 miles north of new York city near white plains and Greenwich, ct.

You guys are great!!! Thank you-I was always leaning towards going to an inpatient rehab-I feel even more that it may be the right move for me-when I read about raising the height of the couch-that's not for me-I have no one to do it and the couch is a really low one as is the bed! But I do...
You guys are wonderful! Such great advice. So many helpful ideas.
Still sounds like most people go home.
What do most people do for rehab? Formy knees I did one week in-patient and three xa week outpatient for several weeks. Is the hip similar?

Thank you do much for taking the time to reply.
There are really two issues.first there is no one at home- just me-will I be able to manage? What can't I do? Can I lift stuff? Do I need help getting in and out of the tub and off of the couch?
The second questions whether rehab is worth it-...
Could you have gone home if you lived alone and managed? Did you need to have your blood tested because of blood thinners? How soon were you able to drive? How soon could you manage 14 stairs?
Sorry for so many questions, but I'm more concerned about whether I can manage post-op at home on...
I was wondering whether people go straight home after surgery. I live alone with 3 flights of stairs and have other foot issues with walking-
Do you suggest rehab or an alternative to going home?
I am hoping to schedule for feb or march.

Ps- I went to Burke Rehab...
Did anyone go to inpatient rehab after THR? Would you recommend it? How long were you there? How much physical therapy did you do every day?
I am in Northern Westchester . Does anyone have a recommendation? I would prefer Burke Rehab in White Plains but I hear I am unlikely to be able to go...
