That is SO true! I worked on an inpatient oncology unit for 8 years, and over those years, I was convinced at one time or other that I had a different kind of cancer. I think I'd "had" every type there is before I moved on to become a visiting nurse.
Most likely, you're right. I think one of the hazards of being a nurse for 30 years is that you've seen everything go wrong, and it's too easy to go to the worst-case scenarios! I'm chillin' right now, and hubby and teen are bringing home pizza. Not grillin', but it'll do!:yes:
Those four things got me through the first very challenging post-operative months. I can't over-emphasize how much this site helped me through some rough days. I think I've gotten so worried because I just, in the past month, had set some goals involving a few hikes I'd like to do a year or so...
I'm sure you are right. I'm starting to think I may have strained the quadriceps. The resting part is so hard for me! :) And it's finally feeling like summer here in Michigan!!!
It's been about three years to the day that I had bilateral total knee replacements. I have been so happy I had them done, and have had no problems to speak of. The night before last, I woke up to go to the bathroom, and while walking, felt my left knee give out. Since then, it's been doing it...
Here's your Get Out Of Jail Free card -- don't do them then :) ; rest, ice, elevate, rest.
Took your advice, though it's difficult for me. I'm one of those who likes to keep busy, and I feel guilty for resting. But I know it's best for my recovery. I talked to the nurse at the OS office; I can...
Well, I am finally home. Tuesday was my last day in inpatient therapy, and now I'm sleeping in my own comfortable bed!
The big hiccup I decided to develop since coming home was an allergy to my pain medication (Norco). I guess the itching I had in rehab was not because of dry skin! On...
Such great replies! I am still in inpatient rehab. I had a few respiratory complications and blood loss that put me in the icu for a few days. We decided I just wasn't ready to go home yet at the usual time of discharge. Honestly I'm glad I did. I'm not sure my pain would have gotten my pain...
I found this site just before my surgery, and I'm so glad I did. I'm not sure how I would have had the strength to get through these last 10 days without the positive messages I've found here. I'm an RN, and always thought I could empathize with what my patients go through. But I never imagined...
I'm having bilateral TKR's on Monday, June 25th. Just two more days! I'm so glad I found this site.
I'm an RN who works in home care. I've probably taken care of a few hundred post-knee replacement patients in my 20 years working in home health care. I KNOW how well most folks do. I KNOW...
