@lovetocookandsew, 2, 3 hours drive? The closer the better but willing to travel!

Thanks, @djklaugh. I did email my surgeon to ask. I tried the search for a physician function but I wasn't finding anything at all, but I'll try different ways of searching.

THR Need recommendation for SF Bay Area Kaiser surgeon

Hello everyone, As per my last post, I need to get a second opinion. Please recommend me Kaiser orthopedic surgeons in or near the SF Bay Area, especially ones who are experienced with non-standard cases. Thanks so much! Mods, can you change my thread title to "looking for SF bay area surgeon...

THR Need recommendation for SF Bay Area Kaiser surgeon

Hello everyone, I'm two and a half years post op, and recent x-rays have shown something strange and my surgeon doesn't know what to make of it. He is a relatively new surgeon and hasn't seen anything like it before. I wish I had taken screen shot of my x-ray when I was having a video visit...

Hey everyone, 10 months out, I've been healing really well! But lately I've been having this weird pain in my heels, worse in my non-operative leg, and I'm developing a bunionette on the outside of my operative foot. The heel pain is only when I walk barefoot, it's like I can feel my heel bone...

Thank you @Layla, I needed that reminder. I was like I can finally carry things with two hands, let me carry that! Ugh. I will stop now, I promise! Luckily, my little one is pretty coaxable, and if I need help getting him into the bedroom for nap time, for example, my five year old will jump at...

@Layla thanks for the anniversary wishes! Now I'm at nearly 3 months, just a few days past my 12 week anniversary, on which I got to start bearing full weight! I hope everyone is doing well in this crazy pandemic world! On the first day, I had some pain immediately when I started walking (I...

    THR Golf ball in butt!

Reading your thread has helped me relax about my situation. I'm just now at almost 7 weeks like you were in your original post and I'm struggling with doing too much (just cooking and tidying and occasional quick trips out! How is that too much?) and getting sore. I'm also younger so I'm...

@CricketHip thanks for your encouraging words. I went back to the walker for today, but I'm still feeling stiff. I felt good upon waking but after a short time moving about I felt stiff again. Icing feels good, I'm doing it now. I'd be so disappointed to go back to the walker, and not keep...

@FCBayern I think I'll try trading off walker and single crutch. Hopefully that will help me make the transition smoother. My leg length discrepancy is really big! My operative leg was an inch and a half shorter before surgery, and my surgeon said he wouldn't try to lengthen it all the way...

Tuesday was my first day using a crutch instead of a walker! So far so good after two days, but my hip feels... Funny. It's not super painful, I guess it's a one, where I used to have 0. Maybe a one and a half. It's not very specific pain, it's kind of just sore and achey all around the joint...

@Layla thank you! Things are going well, I'm feeling pretty strong. I have one more week till I can put 50% weight on my leg. I'm resting a ton because I still can't care for my kids by myself, so I've always got people here so I can just relax. It's getting pretty boring! I had all these...

@Layla thanks so much for the links to parent threads! It's comforting to read other people's stories. I will borrow a scale to get the 30% right. Thank you

@FCBayern yes my OS said to limit weightbearing. My acetabulum was very soft due to my congenital dysplasia. He had to bore deep to attach the cup, that's the reason I have to limit it.

Hi bonesmart people, I'm getting some mixed messages about weightbearing. My PT said 30lbs (or 30%? People have said different things, I'm quite slim though so 30lbs is not that far from 30%) weightbearing is placing your foot flat on the ground but pretty much not putting any pressure on...
