TKR Kevin's knee journey - ups and downs

7 week report out. I think the best thing I did was to keep notes during my first knee recovery so that I have something to compare to when things seem stuck. Recovery has been remarkably similar. So here is where things are at 7 weeks. 1) ROM 0-130. PT pretty much the same as before...

TKR Kevin's knee journey - ups and downs

End of week 2: Recovery still ahead of last time. Cannot be sure whether it is the cause, but since I was still in PT for my other knee, I did a lot of prehab for this knee. I have had no swelling of note, and thanks to drugs lots less pain. My ROM is 0 to 110. Silver bandage off and scar...

    TKR MAKO robotic TKR Surgery

Hello from across the lake in Seattle. Who was your surgeon? I think I have heard of all of them. 1) I agree with all the comments about pain. You should not be screaming during PT. I never was asked to do anything painful. 2) Stairs are weird. With me, my leg just would not "fire" to...

TKR Kevin's knee journey - ups and downs

7 month update! For anyone getting 2 knees done, I recommend that you write a knee diary of the ups and downs of the first one. I went back to the beginning and reread it all 1) The really bad part was in the first few days because I did not take enough meds. 2) A "bed bottle" just in case...

TKR Kevin's knee journey - ups and downs

Update on my Right knee. Sadly, my knee decided that it was not going to follow my well planned schedule. My original plan was for my wife and I to spend 3 weeks in Spain followed by right knee replacement on November 9 - a year after my first knee. A week ago, it decided that it was tired of...

TKR How long did it take you to be able to manage stairs normally?

It took me 2 months to be able to do a few alternate stairs going down (normal descending). it took 4 months to be able to it the entire flight. I was able to go up normally after 2 months. I had to practice doing stairs in PT using a half height step. I just could not get the muscles to fire...

TKR Kevin's knee journey - ups and downs

I use hiking sticks instead of a cane. You look like you are ready to roll instead of being in recovery. I had no problems on the streets, and did 3 mile days - there were 20 music stages from one end of the French Quarter to the other. I iced at the end of the day. K

TKR Kevin's knee journey - ups and downs

6 Months!!!!!!!!! Here is where things are after 6 months. My PT says I am doing great, but I wish it was better. I can pretty much do everything I want. Advanced yoga poses, balance position, gardening, walking. However, still in moderation. I can walk a mile but start slowing down. I have...
