@Fastpuls
Hi
I had to have an ultrasound on my knee because of the pain I was getting at the back of the knee when bending.
It didn’t reveal what was going on at the back of my knee and radiographer said I need further imaging.
BUT it did reveal I have a tear in the quadricep muscle above the...
@sistersinhim and @Josephine
Thank you both for your replies again.
I’m going to look into this further as I need to know if he put anything in place of my knee cap.
Also, if I have had nothing put in place and he’s had to shorten the tendon does this make getting a good bend harder? Or would...
@Josephine
I am getting totally confused because my surgeon said the knee cap had been totally removed as it was too bad to repair.
When I feel where my knee cap was, there is no shape or anything to feel.
It feels totally flat and goes inwards

@sistersinhim
I have had my own knee cap totally removed.
It was no good at all and not repairable.
The consultant said it was far worse than what he originally thought and couldn’t save it.
@Jockette
Hi again
Unfortunately I didn’t take a photo of the screened x ray when I saw my consultant.
I had a check up at 7 weeks and signed off so I won’t be seeing him again
@Jockette

I remember clearly seeing something that looked like it was a knee cap though.
When I feel where my knee cap was it feels totally flat.... no shape at all.
I’m...
@Celle
I have the paperwork that says patella.
My Gp also said the letter from the surgeon Aldo says complete removal of patella and replacement prosthesis.
I cannot feel anything remotely like my own knee cap ( bobbly)
It’s also very flat when standing up with no sign of my knee cap
@Fastpuls
@Celle
Yes I had a totally new knee cap.
It was too bad to be resurfaced.
I didn’t find this out until my day of discharge.
@Fastpuls - would having had a totally new knee cap make the recovery harder?
@Josephine
Did you see my post about ultrasound results?
@Josephine
Hello Josephine
I went for an ultrasound today at my local hospital as my Gp sent me for the pain at the back of my knee.
As you know, I still have a bit of swelling above the knee cap and it’s very tender.
Well, I am totally shocked!!
The ultrasound has shown that I have a torn...
@Josephine
Thank you very much for all your help.
Are you able to tell me why I get a bad pain at the back of my knee when I’m trying to get a better bend on it? ( think it’s the tendons)
