Middle aged female, suffered medial meniscus tear when I was a sophomore in high school. Surgeon at the time was a GP, flat on back in bed for a week. NO PT AT ALL. 
My knee has been my Achilles heel for most of my life, but never let it get in the way of daily living or a good time. Played softball for years and over the last 4 years have been doing kickboxing for my workout 3 times a week. I have reached the stage where my only next step is a new knee. May 20th will be here before you know it.
