Had Birmingham hip resurfacing on left hip 2014 with posterior approach. Took several months to recover.
Almost three weeks post op for total hip replacement (dual mobility) with anterior approach. Was off of pain meds after the first week and walking unassisted after two weeks.
Two totally...
7 days in to recovery and doing well. Off of pain meds except for nights (sleeping). Still doing quarter mile walk every other day with walker and PT exercises twice daily.
I had a hip resurfacing on the left side and was riding in three months.
Just had a hip replacement last week and plan to be back in the saddle this summer.
Dr told me if I gave it time to heal properly I shouldn't have any restrictions. DM is press fit so the bone has to grow into the implant unlike the HR is cemented.

I agree. Really wanted a second resurfacing but most Dr's don't do them anymore. So we'll see how this one holds up to an active lifestyle. Thanks for checking and I'll keep you posted.
Just testing the waters. Dr told me to walk as much as possible and listen to my body. I didn't find it to be uncomfortable nor have I noticed any increased pain or swelling in the past couple hours. I'll waite and see how it feels tomorrow before doing it again. Thanks for the information.
Right total hip replacement 3/11/21. Up and at it early this morning.
Had left hip resurfacing (Birmingham) 4 years ago. Hoping the dual mobility hip was a good alternative.
