@Jaycey ...Great idea! Planning one day of activity and then one day of rest brings about a sense of balance that is so needed during this time. My sister made a comment that is spot on, that even my center of balance is completely new. This is quite a bit of adjustment. Each muscle in my...
Yesterday had my first post op visit. The staples are out, which actually felt quite nice since they were really beginning to itch. One smarted quite a bit as it came out but otherwise I was fine. My doc took a look at my gait and said I can just use a cane as needed now. So I have graduated...
@Rutabaga wonderful news! Getting out of the house feels great even though it is just the front porch at this point. Your post has brought out my enthusiasm! YAY!
Greetings Hippies!
@Miss Muffet my surgery was performed with General Anesthesia, no spinal which I tolerated well and with previous surgeries. Icing is important, which I learned here on this site and kept at it for the first 5 days. Now I am a little more sporadic with icing but still reach...
Now that I am home and able to type on my computer (instead of trying to write on my phone) I am going to add some details from my THR experience.
First off, a big THANK YOU to BoneSmart for this forum. I have learned over the years to face fears with information and connection and this...

I'm sitting in the preop area, and have found out that I am staying overnight. I feel relieved to say the least. The doc says it will take him about 20 minutes to do the procedure and then off to recovery. Your encouragement means so much!
See you on the other side!

Two years ago I had a procedure to hold off...
You can make your own ice packs by combining 1 CUP of rubbing alcohol to 3 CUPS water in a ziploc bag and putting it in the freezer. It will be slushy and colder than normal ice bags. This information came from my pre-op instruction packet from my surgeon. Great cash savings!:yes!:
