Coming up to my six month anniversary and I’ve had a bit of a set back; not sure whether it is the hip or the SI joint / iliopsoas muscle that’s causing the pain. But I should start at the beginning. Three weeks ago I missed the bottom step on my stairs and stepped down pretty hard on my...
Today, I have been officially discharged by the physio. Been walking 7 miles at the weekend and doing well on my crosstrainer and rowing machine. So far no setbacks, fingers crossed. I feel very lucky.
I did my first pilates class (online of course) today. It went so well, I almost can’t believe it. I never thought I would ever be able to do Pilates to that level again. I’m so pleased.
My three month anniversary is coming up on Sunday. I’ve been so very busy but thought I should post an update to mark the occasion. I’m doing really great and most of the time forget I had the surgery last December or was injured 4 years ago. I’m completely off pain killers. I have walked up to...
My first day at work has left me exhausted but it was good to have the interaction with colleagues (what little there is given COVID restrictions). We are all working from our homes, so it involves a lot of sitting at the computer. I need to get the regular moving routine better than I did today...
I’m sorry to hear that and I feel your pain. My piriformis is also playing up but for me it’s a long-standing thing. I find that at the moment what works best is for me to massage the area while lying on the unoperated side with the operated leg bend at the knee and propped up on a pile of...
I had my first physio session yesterday with a hip specialist at Physiocure (Leeds, UK). I have a range of 6 strengthening exercises. She checked my range of movement very gently, it’s miles better than before the operation but no range of movement work at the moment (until 3 month post-op). We...
Turns out I had a spot of sinusitis and that’s why my temperature was elevated. I spent the last few days in bed.
I’m feeling so much better now I have a clear head.
Managed to sleep on left unoperated side for the first time which was nice but short. I also can almost walk normally without...
I’m four weeks in on Monday. I can’t sleep on the unoperated side either yet. I can lie on it for about 5-10 minutes but then it starts pulling and gets uncomfortable. It’s a right pain not being able to change sleeping position, as I keep waking up. Given what everybody else says it seems...
For me having access to a physio is to be able to put together a safe exercise routine which I need to keep myself sane. So it’s my head that needs it, rather than my hip.
Unfortunately, the December weather in Yorkshire makes walking outside (regularly) difficult and not very pleasant.
From...
Recovery continues apace. I had a bit of a temperature spike up to 38 C last Friday but that was gone by Saturday. It was a bit scary while it lasted but since the scar looked very well and there weren’t any other symptoms I decided to treat it as normal unless it continued for more than a day...
Thank you. That’s a good thought and had not occurred to me. I drink about 3-4 litres of water a day, so I don’t think it’s dehydration. In the first two days after the op it was considerably less but I’m back up to usual levels since I’m back home.
