Thanks so much. The BREG has a high and low setting. The low setting doesn't chill me too much and makes my knee cooler to the touch. My icepacks are way colder than the BREG on low. I think the BREG might be causing me to keep my leg too straight. Not sure. Still getting used to sleeping...
Thank you Layla. Your comments are so helpful. I stopped using the Lounge Dr pillow about a week or 2 ago. Sleeping a bit better . Sometimes my knee is so warm it makes it difficult to sleep. I tried no icing at night and it didn't go well.
Thanks so much. I have been forced to sleep on my back too and it just is not restful. I tried pillows in different spots but it is still a challenge. I am still using the BREG ice and compression machine on low settings throughout the night. I tried a few nights without it and it was terrible...
Hi Bonesmarties! Tomorrow marks 3 months since my L TKR. Man, I sure thought I wouldn't be having this much pain at this point. I still struggle with bending my knee. We haven't measured in awhile but I'm think I'm at 95° by myself. I'm using the Electronic Stimulation device, not sure if it is...
I'm officially at 8.5 weeks in my recovery. My surgeon ordered a IFC/TENS/NMES unit to aid in my recovery. Curious if anyone else has experience with the Interferential Current (IFC) or the Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES). My ROM is still disappointing as it is so painful to bend...
I just now made it to 80°. I am 6 weeks in 2 days. I had to stand my ground tell the therapist it was just too painful. I'm trying to focus on resting, elevation, icing and the stretching they recommend. However, my pt wants me to exercise 10 times per day. That just isn't happening. The...
I am hoping that the good communication will continue. She did say things today like, it IS going to hurt, we ARE going to be tougher with you, we don't want you to have to go back under sedation for manipulation. I'm going to try to focus on the positives and continue trying to speak up for...
@Layla, @Jockette, @mendogal
I was debiliatingly sore for 3 whole days after my 1st PT that was not the eval. I took your advice and rested, elevated and iced and stretched and walked often. I cancelled my PT sessions so I would not return for a week. That was today! I had a good chat with the...
I am now 4 weeks in. Your advice about normality and pain medication was well taken. I have now been to in person PT 2 x. I know the therapists well as I have been going on and off for 4 years. Just about everything the Bone Smart blog warned about happened. I have refused some of the things...
I have been doing the max Tylenol daily. My pain has increased as well as stiffness. I was doing at home PT but it finished. Regular PT starts this week. I'm trying to get up every few hours and walk for about 5 minutes and still rest, elevate and ice. Does this sound normal?
