    TKR Pain meds not working

Things are finally getting better. I did have a manipulation done on 1/29 and it has helped tremendously! My range of motion is 110 and seems to continue getting better. I did back off pt as well and it’s helped a lot. Finally, some relief. I do still have some pains when walking. It’s not...

    TKR Pain meds not working

The PT doesn’t hurt when I’m doing it. It actually feels really good to do the exercises. But, when I’m done my leg is spaghetti and after I ice it, it’s pretty much useless. They do push on my leg trying to achieve more range of motion. This is very painful!

Also wanted to ask, how long before it doesn’t hurt after physical therapy? On PT days, by the end of the day, I’m at the point I can barely walk again.

Yes I’ll be 9 weeks post op this Wednesday. Unfortunately, not a whole lot better. In PT 3 times per week. Strength is getting better, but still stuck at 75 degrees range of motion. My rom has not gotten any better since week 3. This cold weather is very rough on the joint. Still feels very...

    TKR Pain meds not working

Hey everyone. Checking back in. I’m 6 weeks post op now and pain is very manageable now. I’ve been doing pt 3 times a week and exercises at home. Walking quite a bit as well with no assistance. Range of motion is stuck at 75 degrees and I’ve been there for 3 weeks now. Dr is pushing for...

    TKR Pain meds not working

Thank you! Things have gotten a little better. Pain is doing ok. Physical therapy still makes it pretty sore but it’s good soreness. Not overdoing it, just working it. Rom is only 72 degrees but I’m going to keep working this process and no mua for now. I’m going to wait and see what time and...

    TKR Pain meds not working

First in office pt session. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks out. Haven’t had pain pills in 2 weeks since my surgeon said he wouldn’t prescribe them anymore. Physical therapist thought that was absurd. Measured 65 degrees rom. He said that was not good and most patients are at 90 by now. He said ask...

    TKR Pain meds not working

Thank you for the info. It’s really hard to know what to do. I want to listen to my body but I’m not sure what it’s telling me? I think I’m going to take an easy day and do lots of icing and elevating and see if that helps. This Tuesday is first outpatient pt. We’ll see what kind of torture...

TKR New member 3 weeks post op

@Gill15 3.5 weeks out and only 70 degrees rom. Surgeon discussed possible mua and dynasplint. Once I hit 70 degrees it’s like the knee is stuck. Just won’t budge and has been this way for several days. Is this normal?

This is insane. How’s this possible??? How can there be such a discrepancy? This should be grounds for medical malpractice the way they are going at this???

    TKR Pain meds not working

being 42 and a life long athlete and current cyclist, I am in good shape and had no issues with rom before surgery. Pt has me doing as many leg beds as possible with a strap around my foot to pull it when I’m stuck. They do t want me pulling too hard, but enough to try and pull it further. It...

    TKR Pain meds not working

@westiemom Thank you. Pain is manageable most of the time outside of physical therapy. Afterwards it’s pretty rough. I had an appt this past week with my surgeon. He said he would not prescribe anything else so it’s Tylenol for me. Starting outpatient physical therapy this week instead of...

    TKR Pain meds not working

@westiemom Thank you for this response! It was helpful to read. I’ve been on micro doses of opiates for restless leg syndrome for the past 6 months. This has made the opiate pain pills almost completely ineffective. So, my surgeon is basically saying sorry for your luck. Pain is very...

    TKR Pain meds not working

Is it normal when you first wake up from surgery to not have any ice on your knee? Or during your stay at the hospital that they do notice it at all? Or elevate your leg? I’m going in for my second post op visit today and making a list of isssues I’ve had. I remember they didn’t ice my knee...
