Barre was a success, I just didn't go crazy. But nothing popped out or fell off, lol. and no flares, either. knee continues to be stiff but I think it's slowly improving. We're working on strengthening at PT.

He said I can stop the iron. In other news, my pt says I can go back to barre class but just be smart. I am so excited! I tried to do search on Pilates on here but way too many posts were from TKRs....my membetship is unfroze so I'll be returning in about 2 weeks but a bit worried about what I...

    Should I have surgery??

It also depends on how quickly you can get it done once you decide to pull the trigger(s). mine was about 4 mths out. I got a cortisone shot to tide me over and it helped. But also, you need to just think about your life in general and plans, what time of year you would like to be recuperating...

I'm still waiting for him to call me, so continuing the iron every other day. @Campervan so that's good that you started it already beforehand, hopefully a better outcome with regards to energy, relatively speaking! Good luck!

@myglasshalffull ah, ok, yes I've never never been low either but it's only been three months so OK I guess it's just normal. I did get the iron panel done and while some numbers were low they were still within the normal range so he'll probably tell me to just keep taking it every other day for...

So when I stand, my right knee (op side) sticks out because my leg is a bit bent. I have to consciously straighten it. I asked my physical therapist about it and he said it's because when they told me to not swing my leg straight forward or back I followed the rules and probably barely moved it...

THR Surgery scheduled for next week, have never had surgery before

Ohh, ok, I was at the hospital so that made it easy. But if your own place is easier to navigate that's key. Yes, I was really glad she gave me the option to walk, too. My recovery is pretty good, there's ups and downs along the way, so keep us updated and I'm sure we'll all say "yes that...

THR Surgery scheduled for next week, have never had surgery before

I'd only had wisdom teeth out and 2 colonoscopies. No kids either. So this was my first surgery as well. When I heard they were going to give me a spinal that freaked me out. I was also worried about being totally nauseous once I came to. when the surgeon and anesthesiologist came in to visit me...

I've never had anemia or even low iron, though I'm chronically tired because I have Sjogrens. But all of these numbers are def lower than pre-surgery, but i didn't suffer a huge amount of blood loss, so not sure what's going on. i'm seeing reg dr on Wednesday.

Went for CBC (per ortho) because my iron remained low after continuing to take supplement every other day. The ortho did not add iron panel to order, which was dumb and I should've told them to but when I asked they said the CBC would be good enough. At any rate, all the results related to...

Yeah, he's great, I'd already been going to him for quite a long time. We've started doing a bit more stuff now, the multi-hip machine, star balance (Non-op leg only), captains, and some kind of walking/twisting thing ( more of a spine thing). And he works on the quad. walking reasonably...

Went to first pt yesterday. I was really nervous that it would dislocate so that made me even more stiff when he was moving my leg around. He did the usual prodding on the psoas, tfl and mediate. those have been the ones that are most annoyed with this new hip. Oh and quad. And stretched the...

    THR Noxus recovery thread

Not that this helps, but it's totally normal. I felt the same way for a week or two after mine. I think the relief for having gotten through the surgery alive lol was enough to keep me feeling pretty great. Then that wore off and it was all about the log leg which was such a drag. And yes, all...

Had my 6 week follow up with the surgeon today. He was very casual. Said "no restrictions,". But then when I started asking specific questions he backpedaled a little and said "you might want to wait on that a little bit." he prescribed PT because I told him I'm still having pain in the gluteus...

I haven't tried it yet, it's on my list of questions for tomorrow when I see the surgeon. i don't have a PT because thus far because surgeon had said to just walk and they didn't prescribe any PT. But given my other muscles that are sore, I'm going to ask about that too. Regarding getting on...

THR 3 weeks post op anterior hip replacement

No skipping here yet. I'm 6 weeks out today. I walked a whopping .9 miles yesterday and everything on the operative side hurts today. Maybe my pace was too fast, I don't know.

Now here's something i wonder about. Are we allowed to get down on the floor yet? (and then of course get back up) is there a link to what actually happens as far as healing week by week? Like what is going on in there around the hip?
