Post Op day 13. I feel great and will follow-up with my OS tomorrow. The swelling is down quite a bit around the knee but the lower leg (calf) is still a little swollen and feels tight and sore. It feels like I have had a week long "charlie horse" and the soreness that follows. It does subside...
Post-op day 12. PT started on Monday (post-op day 7) and I had three PT sessions this week. My therapist is very careful and ensures that if something hurts then we will not do that exercise. The knee bends better than I thought it would at this point and I am able to comfortably walk with the...
Post-Op day 6. I am feeling great considering I had a TKR less than a week ago. I continue to stay on schedule with walks around the house and icing. I start PT tomorrow and will ensure that I do not do too much or the Therapist tries to push me too hard. I remember all of the bonesmarters...
@Chef, Congratulations! It is truly amazing how much better it feels. I have had bilateral THR and so has my wife. Our only regret is that we did not have it done earlier (although we are both still young). Take it slow and listen to your body.
@Gooddkitty
Please know that there are several here on this forum who have been there. I was scared as well and am now day 4 post op. There are plenty of resources to help you (from pre-op through recovery) and the Bonesmart staff are excellent. My surgery was on Monday and I already feel...
Post op day 4. The pain is starting to subside some and I am taking less pain medicine. I stay moving with my "race track" around the main level of the house and was able to traverse upstairs with little difficulty. My bride of almost 33 years does stay in front of me as I go down the steps just...
Hello fellow Bonesmarters! Day 3 post-op and I feel really good. I followed up with my OS's PA today and she said everything looks good. We had to go for them to change the dressing, this was a planned visit. I am a little tired, the walking around the doctor's office exhausted me. The pain is...
Post-Op day 2. The pain is tolerable and I am able to walk several laps around the main level of the house. I am sticking to my goal of walking at least one lap every hour that I am awake. The ice machine is the bomb! I wish I had one for my partial replacement a few years ago. All of my...
Post-Op day 1! I had a pretty good night sleeping in my recliner. The pain is very tolerable as I am staying on schedule with the medication and icing. I do get up about every hour and walk one or two laps around the main floor of my house. I am experiencing quite a bit of discomfort behind the...
Fellow BoneSmarters, I made it to the other side. So far so good. Follow my recovery thread here:

Hello fellow BoneSmarters! I made it to the other side.Today is post-op day 0. The procedure went well (according to my OS), I really don't know, I was asleep. I am relaxing in my recliner and snoozing occasionally. The Anesthesiologist did use a femoral nerve block and it seems to be helping...
You are a much braver soul than I am! I had a spinal for one of my hips with heavy sedation. All others were under general anesthesia. My instructions to the anesthesiologist are always "I do not want to hear, see feel or remember anything!" My TKR is on 13 March, looking forward to hearing your...
