I woke up at 3:30am this morning with horrible pain in my leg. It felt like I was only 1-2 weeks out of surgery. I couldn't move my leg, couldn't bend it, couldn't straighten it. All of a sudden, I can't make any side-to-side movements with my leg, and it feels as though it's swollen four times its normal size (though I don't see any visible swelling).

I had to take Vicodin in order to just go back to sleep. All day today it's been achy and sore, literally like I'm just out of surgery again. The thought of PT tomorrow on this leg as painful as it is makes me SICK.

Any idea what I could have POSSIBLY done to it in my SLEEP?

Where do you live and what is the weather like there? Any storm fronts moving in?
No kidding, last winter we were all moaning and groaning about how changes in barometric pressure made our knees hurt like heck! Deep aching, not sharp pains unless we tried to move them too much.
Barring blood clot or infection symptoms---- could it be the weather?

Beach, that is exactly what I was thinking when I read Kim's post. I am 4 months out and we have had 2 low pressures go thru this week. I commented to my husband how they did not affect my knees this time like they did all summer with the rain we had. It is raining right now and I am not experiencing those symptoms! Yeah! So eventually, I hope they go away for you too! Anyone else experience having the pain go away when the low pressures come thru?
Best,
Crystal

I'm in Minnesota, and yeah, it could have exactly been the weather. My knee is back to "normal" today, though feels a bit "clunky" today. And...something was up because my morning blood sugar was REALLY high for me this morning. It'll go up if I'm sick or stressed, etc.

Great. I live in the nation's icebox and have a titanium knee. What was I thinking? LOL Oh well, the ability to function again (barring the weather) is worth it.

Think of it as an asset! If you're ever cold all you have to do is rub your hands
together over your titanium knee - its always a source of heat!

Uh huh, but think about that metal knee the next time you're walking around outside and it starts thundering and lightening.

You know, I think I have already experienced this. I thought it was the staples, but maybe it WAS the knee. We had a whopper of an electrical storm a week after my surgery, and lightening hit VERY close to our house. It felt like an electrical current running up and down the staples like a zipper. It was MOST unpleasant! Are you telling me I get to play that particular game again just cuz I have a metal knee? YEOW!

This latest episode was just so bizarre, the pain. It was like my entire leg was affected, from my hip to my toes...it literally felt like it did when I was in the hospital trying to simply MOVE my leg. It felt like it weighed 1,000 pounds again, and any movement at all hurt. Thankfully, it has resolved!

Last winter we decided there really is NO Doppler Radar for weather. They just take a survey of titanium knee owners and do the forecast from there!

I am sure hoping not to feel those coastal low pressure fronts moving over here to the valley in the middle of the night this winter!

I don't seem to get any reaction to the change in the weather, didn't think you could feel it in "bionic" parts? Glad I don't feel the changes, we had our first fall of snow yesterday, didn't settle though. It was minus 4C, back in my long pants now!! I was wearing shorts at the weekend, it was 25C!! Good job they make the Halloween costumes big enough to fit over snowsuits!!
