Hi
I was on this forum starting 7 years ago but can't remember my username so I re-registered and here I am:)
I had my RTKR about 7 years ago and the recovery was good and swift. I had the LTKR a year and a half later and recovery dragged out for 2 years. I have great flexion and extension in both but the left one gas always had "grumpy" days. Now, it is suddenly feeling stiff and completely different. What do I look for if it's infected? I tried to find infection threads but haven't been successful. Can anyone help me navigate to those posts? I know to look for the red infection box - do I just scroll through all the posts?
I love this site- it's so full of info and heart......

Hi @annieo, I discovered an infection in my tkr 2 yrs post op. I'm told this is very rare.....oh that made me feel better-not! My knee bothered me and never seemed to completely heal until the infection was discovered. I had pain so I visited my OS and was told everything looked good on xray and it was probably scar tissue and if it got too painful I could choose to have it cleaned out. Fast forward five or 6 mos and the infection presented as a bump on my knee that suddenly drained. New x-rays were taken which showed bone loss due to infection. The infection was never identified even after 3 aspirations and cultures. Only blood tests along with the xrays/mri identified I actually had an infection. Check my thread for what followed to correct issue. I don't mean to scare you, there could be many reasons for your issue but you asked about infection. When you visit your Dr have him or her do blood tests to rule out infection, specifically CRP and Sed rate. I hope you find a easily corrected reason for your pain, good luck!

Welcome back, sorry the about the circumstances.
Here is a link to all the Recovery threads .

I agree see your surgeon asap, and find out what is going on with your knee.

Please post your surgery dates, a moderator will add them to your signature for you. Having the exact dates will help us properly advise you. Thanks!

Keep us posted on how you are doing,
Chris
