Sorry if I goof up on asking questions I am new at this thread & reply stuff. Hubby had TKR 12-17-07 and he is just worn out all the time. He will start to do some things that are crazy such as cutting down a FEW SMALL trees and then he is worn out and a butt to boot. He is too hard headed to listen to me say you shouldn't even THINK of doing that. Only 2 weeks past PT! How long does it take before your body gains some strength, not just the knee and leg?

I don't know. At 9 weeks PO, I just started doing some basics like laundry and some cleaning. I still can't stand long enough to do a whole dinner on my own. I'm just regaining my strength and stamina. I use it for walks instead of work, but that's a personal choice. I think he should kick back a bit, but I know my husband would be the exact same way. he has a very high pain tolerance and I have like none!

If he's being a "butt", then he might need his pain meds. I find I get cranky and irritable when I am in need of meds but I don't notice it right away. Of course, my kids all remind me!

Good luck! You have your work cut out for you, dear. I'll pray for you both!

The Wife: Good for your Hubby, bad for you. I think we all have different recovery times. Sounds like hes hard headed like me. As long as his Dr. approves, its probably good that he is active! a TKR takes its toll on the patient and his/her supporters and caregivers. Remind him you love him and ask him to spend some quality time with YOU since he is being so active. As Josephine would say, the TKR is a total invasion and shock to your body and system, not just the knee. God Bless you both and Im sure all will be well!
