Word of Warning

Thank you, and no, I don't mind. Kory was a son not of my body, but of my heart and a wonderful young man. His father and I were in a LTR, but never married. Kory was 4 when he came to live with me and from the moment he asked if he could call me "mommy" I knew he was my son in every way that mattered. We stayed close over the years and I saw him the last day of his leave before going to Iraq. He and Cooper saved many lives and were true heroes.

beach, sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing him. Jen

Doug---here is a very moving website about the Rainbow Bridge.

Beachcomber--you and your son---as welll as his dog---are in our thoughts and prayers.

Beach, I'm so sad to hear of your loss. I'm so grateful for your "son" and others who willingly fight for freedom not just for us but for those who cannot do it without us. I pray he has a special place in heaven (with Cooper) and that he'll be waiting for you to join him someday (not soon). He truly is a hero in every sense of the word. May God bless you and give you peace and comfort in your loss.

Thank you Skeet and Ref. He was a kind-hearted, giving person (only 20 years old) who cared so much for others. He and Cooper(a bomb-sniffing dog) entered dangerous areas ahead of their comrades to check for explosives. They saved many, many lives. His lifelong dream was to go into law enforcement and he hoped to continue working with canine units. He had such a bright future and we miss him so.....it is so hard to believe he is gone, but I know we will all be together again some day.

And Jen---- thank you too. It is a hurt that never goes away.

Ref, You have no idea how intimidating that is to me..Last time I did a paper it was on an electric typwriter and I had to use the old correction tape for a typo...No spell check. How did we survive??

As a person who writes for a living, I can tell you we survived by learning how to spell.

Faith,
Thanks but if this computer didn't have spell check you guys would probably think I'm from Korea or something.

Beach,
My deepest condolences on your loss..The world is so full of hazards. We need to tell our friends and family how much we love them at every opportunity.
Soooo, love you guys.

Most of you know that I work at the Pentagon. Once a month, injured Marines and Soldiers from the Walter Reed and Bethesda Hospitals come over for a tour of the Pentagon. They come down the hallways and hundreds of people line the halls and clap their hands, shake hands and say thank you to the injured. They are just so, so young.... This is such a heartbreaking experience to see these young people with missing limbs and/or brain injuries. They are often with their young spouse and very small children.

No matter how much pain I am in each and every day, this always makes me feel like I've got nothing to complain about. These kids are just so special and have done something I can't imagine.

AMEN to that, sister! God bless our troops, here and abroad. They sacrifice more than we can imagine. I love them and appreciate each and every one.
