Hello All,
Just found out that my insurance is done paying for my PT! They only pay for 60 days over the lifetime of the TKR and yes it's consecutive days...even holidays and weekends. I'm only 10 weeks post TKR. My flexion is 115 and my extension is still stuck at 4 degrees. Luckily I'm also covered by the VA as this was a service connected injury so they will cover more treatment but not before I go for yet another reval and to a different PT place, but this is absurd! Or is this normal???

Mine was terrible too. It's amazing that they will pay $30,000 for our new knees but get stingy on the P.T.
Fortunately my Dr. told me to do what I wanted to do, gave me a few restrictions, i.e., no deep squats and some weight limitations to start with. But I'm a member of a gym that does some rehab work.

Mine was/is good for 30 visits; how I get to 30 is up to me. Good thing you have a backup, but as was said earlier, its pretty much up to us to continue with what we were taught in the first 2-3 weeks.

I hear ya...it's just so much easier to go the the place - get it done - and just focus on that. I have a 6 year old child that totally gets that I have a new knee but he still wants me to "come here and help me" or "when are you going to be done"...yada yada...I know - I'm having a little pity party...

Having little ones at home would be rough. Mine are grown 24 and 27 and take care of themselves. Girl..hang in there!!

People...don't over do the knee thing...you'll pay for, especially if your non-op. knee isn't exactly healthy. It's not worth the extra mile....not yet.

Steph,
Go ahead and have the party, we all have them.
I've got a high energy 14 year old boy. Love him more that life itself but when his friends aren't around, he comes to daddy for playing around. He likes to get on the floor and fight. That's how I found I could kneel on the new Knee.
I am learning Xbox pretty well though.

Patti,
I know what you mean. I need to have my right knee done also but my Doctor wanted me to wait another year. Well as you know, the walking funny thing and the over reliance on the so called good knee is causing me to have some "hey you, remember me? I'm your other problem knee".

Oh well...

Steph

Mine goes 30 per calendar year. but at 10 weeks, 3x a week, that is only 10 wks. Please all, tell me rehab doesn't absorb any of that bank. I actually found a small rehab (like I wanted) that was out of net work. In network = 75% out of = %50. They said we'll treat you as a self pay and charge you what you would have paid if we were in your net work. They say they get $100 a session so I've been paying $25. I think I struck gold. So I still have my 30 if i go somewhere else, but I don't plan to. But I am scared to death on what they will do to me on all the other cahrges. Is that how much these knees go for? $30,000. Bi-lat would be $50-60?

I have 20 PT visits per calendar year, and I've almost used them up. My doc wanted me to try aquatic therapy, so I'm using the last 5 visits at an aquatic physical therapy center. I've met some other TKR patients there, and they've told me how much it helped them. My plan is to go to my gym and use their pool once I have an exercise program from them. The PT I had been seeing was not happy about my going somewhere else....

do the have replacement knees on QVC? Buy more save more and easy pay. I'l put it on my Q card!

I saw some 'do it yourself' video/kit late one night.....................not sure about the channel. Patti can prob'ly hook you up with a link.

I paid $500 for the surgery, and all associated costs. I pay $40 per PT visit. I think I had an unlimited number of visits, but they must be preapproved and they only gave me like 6 at a time. I actually only went 6 times and I was in great shape. I went once a week for the most part and worked at home daily. I have Pacificare insurance.

$40 a visit. I paid $25 per visit. I told the Dr. it ticked me off to pay someone else to hurt me when I could do better myself.....and he agreed

I ordered several jackets off QVC while home with a headache the other day....they should be delivered tomorrow! I don't think they'll help very much with my RANGE....but you never know!

My coverageis through the hospitalsystem in which my wife is employed. The surgery and stay were free, and I pay $10 per PT visit---unlimited. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. If I went outside the system, it is 80-20 all of the way.
