I have meetings every night this week and I'm going on the annual women's retreat through my church this weekend (Wi-ne-ma, Carolyn, right on the beach!). So I won't be able to check in as frequently. Friday through Sunday afternoon late I will have no PC or internet access. I hope I do okay. I'm a little concerned about the weekend away... I'll check back as soon as I can. And I'll be online some this week, just not much.

God bless you all!!

Now we have to put up with "Skeet Withdrawal".

Hey Skeet, Take it easy at work this week and have a great time at the retreat. get all GODded up! jen

See??? I already miss her. Hasn't even been two hours.

Have a great time, Skeet and be sure you take care of yourself while you're out there!!! No fair overdoing things!!! Talk to you when you return! ...Jamie

Thanks, all. I will have to monitor my energy level for sure this week. And the retreat is casual enough that I can rest whenever. I just don't do "rest" well when I could be having fun with all my women friends! At least I've arranged a ride over and back so I don't have to drive!

And, Doug, now you know how we felt when you went to visit Mom...

Have driven by it many times! Have a great retreat! I hope the coastal weather behaves itself for you. There is something about the roar of the ocean that renews and strengthens my soul. I used to walk miles and just soak it in--- last time I sat more than walked--- but still had the same effect.
Blessings to you

Have a great time Skeet. I just got back from a great weekend away, but it was very relaxing mostly. I still managed to go shopping with my friend for a couple of hours but I tried not thinking about the knee so much all weekend, made a lovely change, and a break for Kevin!!

Sue, you make an excellent point that it is important to remember the impact of this surgery on our families and provide some getaway or relief for them now and then. Fortunately, I think having this forum does a WONDERFUL job with that in many ways by allowing us to talk things out with fellow TKRers rather than always with family members. It is pretty difficult to understand all of what you're going through without having experienced it firsthand.

I totally agree, Jamie. I had to sit down during our worship/singing Sunday and my husband was quick to ask what was wrong? was I okay? He worries a lot about me.

Worse (or better) yet is when they are right. I got to cleaning out the bedroom this weekend. Closet, bags of clothes to donate, boxes with old records, moving shelves and chairs and my husband says be careful and don't over do it. I said what do you mean? Next day, mommy needs a pill! He was right.

Oh Jenn.....so sorry to hear you worked yourself into a pill. Hope he didn't say "I told you so." But, it is nice to know he cares so much about you, isn't it. What a doll!

no, he didn't say i told you so. told me to put my feet up. Might have to keep him. But my BR looks better!

And NOW I'm beginning to understand your OTHER thread about being so tired that you doze off during the day.....uhhhhhh.....it could be MOVING FURNITURE AROUND, my friend!!!! Think maybe???

Bless your heart. It's tough for us women to be "down" for any length of time, isn't it! Hang in there....you'll be your complete self again in no time. You have come so far already.....clean bedroom and all!!! (((HUGS))))

I agree, Jamie. I cleaned almost the entire house, moved all the furniture to vacuum, rearranged furniture in one room. washed walls, you name it. Then I wondered why I could barely walk the next day.

My husband is good at reminding me to stop, put my feet up, and relax. I just am not so good at "minding" him....

Oh thank God it's not just me. I've been down for so long, i'mm finally feeling up to doing things.....
Jamie, no thread crossing, that gets me in trouble! ;-)

Jenn....don't feel so bad. Now I'm in the same boat as you are from doing WAY too much at my first outpatient therapy session this morning. It didn't hit until tonight, but the pain came with a vengeance! I'm passing time here writing on the forum until I can take a couple of Darvoset and put myself out asleep for a few hours. That time is fortunately coming soon. I know tomorrow will need to be a putz day to recover. Now I know what my surgeon was talking about when he warned me about too much outpatient therapy at once.....much better to spread those workouts throughout the day. I should make a sign for the frig so I won't forget that again!!! Take care of yourself, okay?

Jamie,
My PT's advice is that if it causes you "discomfort" (they don't use the P word) the same day/night of the PT session that is "normal". If it still is "uncomfortable" the second day that means it was too much.... not much help that first night I know but it is usually a good guideline for me.

Best of luck in finding your balance. Spreading it out sounds like a good strategy.
