I don't know how to explain it but when I walk I can feel movement in my knee or crunchy movement. I know when I sit and bend my knee back and forth I hear the clincking noise....but do you guys also feel the movement when you step down on your knee. I sure hope it goes away it really bothers me. It's been about 10 weeks since the surgery. I've been trying to walk at home without any aid but when I go out I still use the walker....just feel safer. Jane from Ohio

I'm 6 weeks post op and I describe it as feeling clicky, although what I actually mean is that it feels kind of jiggly.. or sort of loose. Dr said that's totally normal and within a couple months that feeling will go away as all the muscles and ligaments settle back into place around the replacement and get stronger again. (My dad who's had both knees done had the same type feeling and said it lasted about 3 months for him.)

Hope that helps!

You're exactlyl right, Gale (Dad is one smart cookie!). Things have to settle in after a knee replacement. The parts all have to get used to each other. And....you have to work on strengthening those muscles. Then things won't seem so "loosy goosy."

I agree things need to settle mine used to make that noise .well it does again after this surg but my other surg i made alot of noise so its normal and most will go away but you still may here/feel that lil clunking.............good luck to you.......)

It's the soft tissues - they have been assaulted and made stiff by the trauma, therefore you can hear the creaking and grinding as they settle in again. And it could also be air bubbles being moved around inside the joint. Bit like popping bubble wrap! :hehe:
