as I lose weight, I find that I can breathe better and my back don't hurt as much.

but on the flip side, the 'fat' in my right knee is going away and I'm feeling a lot of pain. I'm bone on bone and I'm also wearing a velcro brace to support it.

when I sleep, I sleep on the side with a pillow between my knees, and I tend to curl up as well. I'd wake up so stiff and sore from it. and I noticed that my right knee is getting more bent and the hamstring is getting tighter. I can't straighten out my knee without the lateral side hurting.

what I'm wondering is how my poor bent knee will be affected by the surgery--I know it'll be sooooore...but will it be bent as well? I was told by my OS that he'll do something a little different during the surgery to aggressively manipulate my knee so that I can extend and flex my knee better.

I'm due for surgery on 8/11/09...would appreciate some input....

thanks!!!

I'm getting confused which knee is when!

The surgery is on your right knee but the 'aggressive mua' is on your left, correct?

And you are wondering how your right knee will be after the operation? Well, it will be fine. It hurts now because of the tension in the ligaments caused by the deformity but once the deformity is corrected, the tension should be relieved so, all things being equal, you will have only the usual post-op pain to cope with.

Ho Lori, Sorrta bout all the pain you are having. Once this is done it will be different at least you know the surgery pain will go away. Hang in there not much longer. I sure hope you can find a good way to sleep till then.......Good Luck to you....We are all here if you need anything ...........

sorry for the confuzzlement! :p

no, I won't be able to get MUA for my left, :o( but with deep tissue massage I was able to extend and flex a little bit. :o)

what my OS will do for my right knee is to manipulate the knee during surgery so it's loose to allow me to move my knee around a little bit better.

and that's good to hear that I won't have that bent-ness to the knee....as I'm worried that whatever I'm doing to it now will make it hard for me to work the kinks out during PT. :)
