Im sorry, Do you mean before or after surgery? Talk with your Dr about all your concerns. Make a list, I did a long one. Post soon and Im sure your get advice...Hang in there it will be ok. And we will be right here for ya........

I am not a medical professional but in my pre-surgery research I read that overweight people benefit from the pain relief of hip replacement just as much as normal weight people. Being overweight should not be a reason by itself to avoid this surgery. Be aware that in general the incision needs to be longer the more tissue that must be cut through. Perhaps your most important concern should be your ability to tolerate the surgery itself. The presurgery testing will check out all your critical systems. The new hip will wear longer if it has less weight to bear so many doctors do recommend losing excess weight in the interests of optimizing the longevity of the implants.

Good response, Gail! You are right on target. Weight itself should not be a problem with hip replacement surgery. Ronnie, do talk with your surgeon about your specific health situation. It will put your mind at ease. Write out questions ahead of time so you don't forget anything.

Of course it depends on how overweight we are talking about here!
