I saw Tim's post and it inspired me to add some encouraging words to the forum. Congratulations Tim - sounds like you're doing great. I had my BTKR a year ago Oct. 23rd. It really does get better. I think we all have to keep working at it to continue to get stronger and to maintain all the progress we make. I go to Bally's to work out, ride the stationary bike. I've been working in a job that requires me to go up and down stairs several times every day - and I'm doing ok!

If any of you who were on this forum early this year when I shared my unemployment woes - well, I was just offered an incredible job with the Veteran's Admin. And I passed the physical! The doctor who did the physical didn't suspect I'd had TKR until I told her.

If any of you are feeling blue, discouraged, isolated, frustrated, just plain tired from hurting, PT, lack of sleep, struggling to reclaim your life...please hang in there and have faith. The hard work you're doing is going to pay off.

Have a wonderful holiday season and my best healing wishes to everyone.

Susan

I love when you "vets" return and give us a positive update....very inspiring...thank you!

I can only second what Susan said, hang in there, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am a bit over seven months post op and feeling and doing great and the best part is you will get there too. This is one situation where you can actually believe us when we say that if you work hard and do the things the PT wants you do you will have your life back. And when you think about it we really are so very fortunate, not so many years ago such surgeries were not available. I hate to think how many people had to endure years and years of pain with no hope. Yep, we are truly blessed.

And Susan, congratulations on the new job with the VA, you go girl!!!!!! What an inspiring post.

Hey Susan, glad to hear from you and that is great news about your new job.
Don't forget to check in on New Years Eve for our reunion.

Yayyy! The new Year reunion! Hope everyone remembers! Want photos an everyfing!

Susie, it's so great to hear from you. I am so pleased about your job. You deserve it, girl!

Well- I guess I should have checked in more often! I don't know about the New Year's reunion - what's the plan? Sounds like a great idea.

Just sign on at midnight Eastern time on New Years Eve.

Susie,
We're having a Happy New Knee Year Reunion Party. It is BYOB or BYOP--- whichever you prefer.

Glad to hear life is good for you. It is so wonderful to hear back and know that the dark days we all went through were really worth it!

Congratulations!

Are we signing in on the social network or here??

And I have my 1 yr anniversary on 12-17. I'm doing great. I will warn folks that you do have to keep up with the exercise or you will start to lose the ROM you have. don't know how long you have to keep it up, but at least a year for sure. I forget I even had it done until I forget and bend it a bit too far and it hurts. I think I get about 120 degrees or more at this point.

Hey Skeet,
I was going to start a "Happy New Years" thread around 9-10pm(eastern) on the social network.

My knee is like yours on the ROM. Although I work it out, I go for conditioning etc. now and don't fret about the bending. I'm probably at 120 but could force it more.

What social network? Y'all don't come in here then and I'm quitting with a broken heart!

Oh BOY..... a New Years Celebration! I haven't been as faithful as I should about posting but I do check every so often to make sure you are all still here.. and I'm glad to see you are!!! My TKR was Jan. 14th and I am doing great too.....It wasn't easy and it wasn't pretty , especially with the broken wrist at the same time but it's amazing what the body does to heal itself. We were in Las Vegas last week and visisted the Bodies Exibition (human bodies in all sorts of preservations) It included a TKR with the prothesis and was amazing -- now I know what's really inside me. Anyway, if I haven't stayed away too long and if you didn't forget about me I'd love to join your party..... I'm not sure how to post my picture so I'll need some help with that , otherwise I am so glad we are all moving and grooving and I promise to be more active on the site now that winter has arrived back in Western Pa with a vengence......this summer went so fast probably because it was the first one pain free in a long long time! Hugs to all!

So great to hear from you and that you are doing so well and enjoying life.

Join us--- Doug is starting a thread called "Happy New Year" on the Social Networking part of the site. See you then for sure!

Ok - I give up. What is the social networking part of the site and how do I get there?

Thanks Susie....now I don't feel so stupid...I don't know how to get there either! HELP PLEASE!

Hi Susan,
Which VA are you going to be working at? My daughter graduated from Baylor down in Waco, TX last December and they sought her out and offered her a job to work in the Benefits Dept. She wants to get into her major which was Public Relations and they are suppose to work with her after she does her 2 year intern with the Benefits Dept. She started out making good money and gets a big raise next year.

Dale

Ah! You mean this

BoneSmart Social Network:
Joint Replacement Lifestyles
An area for developing and continuing social relationships with other joint replacement patients.

That's just our new forum for all the chit chat and that! I hardy noticed Jim (the Webmaster) had titled it that!

Yes, that IS where the New Year thread will be started!

Hi Dale,

I'll be working in Cleveland, Ohio. I'm a psychotherapist and I'll be working with vets in the outpatient mental health clinic. I am so excited about this job!

Last year at this time I was trying to get off the walker and onto a cane, and my previous employer had told me a week before the surgery that they were 'reorganizing' and I didn't have a job to come back to.

I like this year better!!!!!
