Friday Jan. 16th came and finally went. The first tkr is done. PT came on Sat. and gave few leg exercises but actually got me standing as well and sitting in chair. I was and am very sore....Surprise!!!!! But on Mon. they came and said I was doing very well for 3rd day post op. And so said okay to go home Tuesday. Had a bit of a mixup with meds OS was going to send me home with. Only was going to be ibruprofen....but I questioned why since I was very sore and in hospital they were using Dilaudid. They couldn't use percoset as I didn't react correctly to it when I had mouth surgery in summer. And I told them Tylenol 3 wouldn't do it either as I had tried it before the percoset. I had read enough though this forum that you'd better have proper meds or things wouldn't go smoothly. In any case he gave me some of both till I see him Feb. 12/2009 If I hadn't been reading up on everything here I wouldn't have probably even check. So thanks very much guys for all your help. Now if I can just keep up the excercises and pt. I need to!!! Lindy

Good Going, Lindy! That's wonderful news! Keep up the great work!

Way to go!!! That assertiveness has paid off for you! Keep it up! You are the keeper of your health. Best of luck to you in recovery!

One is over with Lindy! Yay!

I too couldn't take Tylenol 3's. The codeine upset my stomach so I was very cautious about percocets. However, if I take it with a few soda crackers it's ok. I was even able to take 2 today before physio and felt a bit nauseous but it was manageable. Apparently the codeine in percocet is a little different than Tylenol 3. Trying to down soda crackers at 4:30 am is a little crazy though, but worth it.

Many meds should be taken with food or rather, not on an empty stomach. May not say that on the packet but is often a good rule to use.

Good going Lindy, you're on the way to movin' & groovin. Be sure to rest plenty and keep that knee bending.
